Bicycle sales skyrocket during 'stay at home' order
With the weather warming up, many people stuck at home are hopping on a bike for some fresh air and exercise.

Since the state's 'stay at home' order was put in place, business has skyrocketed at bicycle shops across Minnesota.

Erik's Bike Shop in St. Paul says sales are up 50%.

Since the store is considered an essential business, it hasn't closed during the pandemic.

Here’s a field report: I was in the local bike store yesterday getting a new cable. I guess bike stores are essential. I have never seen the store so busy. And two people walked out with new bikes while I was there. The bicycle trails I ride have been full for weeks.

I've seen a lot of roadies out by me. And I finally got the Colnago tuned up and on the road for a conditioning/checkout exercise yesterday. You can spend all winter riding a trainer, but it's not the same as riding on the tarmac. I was surprised at how out of shape I was. I was 20 percent slower on my hill route than I was last year.

Getting old sucks.
