I heard this on public radio this morning and had to share this cheery tune. Julie Andrews' voice is so unmistakable...to old farts like me. Hope you enjoy and please dont flame the ignorant newb.
Julie Andrews and Richard Burton in the 1960 musical Camelot
This is why there are so many birthdays in February
Thanks for posting this!
Ever since the Kennedy “Camelot” slobbering love fest, I’ve hated the word “Camelot” which is too bad.
Julie Andrews gave the commencement address about 8 years ago at my son’s college graduation. Her speech was fantastic — very uplifting and optimistic.
Don’t recall ever seeing this but Julie Andrew’s voice is beautiful. My mom took me to the movies to see Sound of Music when I was young and I have never forgotten those songs.
I am only familiar with the movie Camelot starring Vanessa Redgrave and Richard Harris. Was this a movie with Richard Burton and Julie Andrews OR a Broadway play?
May birthday is in May
The 13th.
Been unlucky since the day I was born :)
gonna be 52...sheesh
Broadway.
Lots of good tunes.
My birthday is May 10...not that I need any more ... or maybe thats the wrong thing to say!
Happy coming birthday FRiend...not the most exotic this year, but well do our best.
I saw Richard Harris in a touring company of Camelot in Pittsburgh in 1984. I remember driving past the back entrance of the theater, we had four people in our car, and Richard and the guy who played Merlin were having a smoke, in costume, and we honked the horn at them and waved and the two actors smiled and waved back, very gracious of them.
Love her voice and acting. Thanks
All my favorites - anything Lerner and Lowe or Rodgers and Hammerstein did. Got into Hollywood years ago to see the stage production of THE KING and I - Yul Brynner. I could not hold back the tears at the curtain call. Richard Burton was appearing the next month in something and I’ve forgotten now what it was - could have been Camelot but we couldn’t make it. We saw something else there also but I’ve forgotten what it was. We took a bus for a group put together by the city of Costa Mesa from OC to Hollywood to Grauman’s Chinese Theater..Saw Robert Goulet in Man from
La Mancha but that was at the OC Performing Arts Center. Good but not as impressive as the other shows.
Memories are comforting now with doom and gloom all around...
And then there’s May 8th. Where I went to school there was a saying, “Hooray, hooray, the 8th of May! Outdoor sex begins today!”
I have seen Julie Andrews naked : )
