You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter., unless you’re totally stumped.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

Solution to our last puzzle:

A POSITIVE ATTITUDE MAY NOT SOLVE ALL YOUR PROBLEMS, BUT IT MAY ANNOY ENOUGH PEOPLE TO MAKE IT WORTH THE EFFORT. HERM ALBRIGHT

Many old friends in today’s CG, from the Arkansas Gazette.

I started with word #4, that gave me #2, then I couldn’t write the answer fast enough. This might be one to try without paper.

I think a lot of people will break that hallowed one minute mark today.

Let’s hear from everyone today. Say anything you want. I’d love to see 50 posts!!!

Georgia is opening back up today. Gyms, restaurants, etc. Will be strange.

Everyone in the media save a few, are predicting deep recession. Biden way in the lead, Trump doomed again, (have you noticed the disparaging photos of him these days?)

Obviously, these egg heads don’t know the American people. People in this country are ready to bust loose!

I never thought I could loathe the media as much as I do now, and that includes people like Chris Wallace, Ann Coulter, Peggy Noonan, and Neil Cavuto.

We have for once in my life time a president who is a brawler, who sticks up for us, and yes, is truly concerned about all of us, and they bash him relentlessly.

However, top of my list of the worst, in my book, are Paul Ryan and the snake, Mitt Romney.

God, please watch over this man...

About 1 min. I got 4th word, guessed at 3rd, and recognized last 3 letters of 1st word. The rest was fill in the blanks. Stay safe in “opening up” day in Georgia.

1 min. I call it "dominos".

I got the 4th word, which told me the 3rd, which told me the 2nd, the rest as fast as I could click.

One of the easiest evah. The first three words pop out. I never heard of the author, and had two reasonable guesses about the author. The first one I tried appears to be correct.

For some reason, I was blind to the obviousness of the first word (face palm) but I figured out the first name, strangely enough, and that got me started. I agree with the sentiment, in general, although people today are so sensitive, and of course, you can’t say anything to a liberal.

Start these when I first get up and fire up the confuser. Tinkering while I am still waking up and no coffee takes a circuitous route, but have not left one unsolved for weeks now.

Author was a mystery until a search for the quote. Never heard of him, doubt most engineers have.

I will post for a change as well as posting my answer in Freepmail. . . It was an answer that I got by essentially reading it from first word to last. Very fast.

Yes, took longer to write it out than to solve it. A nice break.
