Back in the late 1960's or 1970's there was a movie about a family that went into a bomb shelter because of a nuclear attack. Months later the father went outside and discovered that it was all a hoax. There was no nuclear fallout. It was all about the power of fear. Exchange the bomb shelter for a face mask. Does anyone remember the title of the movie? Maybe it was a Twilight Zone episode?
Sounds a lot like that Polish Air Disaster from not too long ago. The headline went something like “Polish Air Disaster!! Small plane crashes into cemetery. No survivors. 162 bodies recovered so far. Frantic rescue efforts ensue as as digging continues throughout the night.”
That’s Sandy Kenyon, not Harry Dean Stanton. They do look a little alike.
During the 60’s, fallout shelters were a common plot device.
Sure looks like Harry.
THX1138,
Bizarre flick indeed.
.
I binge watch
.
12 Monkeys
and
Blade Runner.
Guys look a little ragged but the women still have nicely coiffured hair esp. the one with the necklace.
Duct tape and
Plastic sheeting.
I’ve still got a
Couple Israeli
Gas masks around here,
Somedamn place-—
Gotta find them Now!
I saw it again on TV years ago and they had taken out the part about the elementary school teachers indoctrinating the kids in freedom through earphones. It comes right at the end.
+1!
I think you are remembering Blast from the Past with Christopher Walken and Brenden Fraser.
I thought it was Lloyd Braun from Seinfeld, now doing insurance commercials.
I think that’s Jack Albertson off to the right.
they did that in one of the revamped mi movies too
Imo, this is playing out more like a War of The Worlds radio show gone big.
that’s exactly what I was going to suggest.
“And there are places called liquor stores...write that down!”
I remember that one.
I partied in a bomb shelter once back in the 70s.
In The 1962 Walton County Fair they let some company display their fallout shelter. I don’t recall the price but it did seem to have what you would need to be fairly comfortable for a few days or maybe a little longer.
their fear is you may be carrying the virus
