The Marine Corps' top general has issued a rallying cry for leathernecks to unite around symbols that bring them together, rather than those that divide, as he moves to prohibit the Confederate flag on all installations.

The general still allows the homosexual fag flag stealing of the rainbow on his bases.
This gives rise to an interesting thought problem.
I, for the record, am a Yankee originally from CT whose ancestors from MA fought for the Union and if I were to fly a Civil War era flag it would be Old Glory with 35 stars (Yes I know they used flags with 33, 34, 35 and 36 stars but the 35 was in use the longest).
OK the problem is this: two large Marine installations are in North Carolina (Camp Lejuene) and South Carolina (Parris Island). Both of those states allow people to buy a custom license plate (for Sons of the Confederacy I believe) with a design that incorporates the Confederate Battle Flag. Is General Berger going to ban vehicles with those plates on them?
“if confederate symbols now act more as obstacles to the mission and to recruitment and retention than they can possibly contribute to it, then it is time to set them aside in museums and geneaologists closets so it cannot be used by our enemies to agitate and sap our strength.”
Why should decent people buckle under to low-I.Q. people who don’t understand the truth? If they’re ignorant as to all the meanings, and history, of this particular flag, then screw ‘em. It’s a heritage thing, and flipping the bird at overall government tyranny. If idiots think “racist”, then that’s their problem. I’m tired of the ignorant minorities setting the rules for the majority.
(BTW, I’m from NY and our family has abolitionist ancestors. Confederate flags are seen often there, and I believe a couple of my cousins have them — but I’m not sure about that.)
I fly the Bonnie Blue flag now because my American flag had become terribly faded and needed replacing. Until I get a new American flag the Bonnie Blue is staying there.
In the 80’s when I was in the Navy, it was not uncommon for southerners to sport battle flags on their cruise jackets. That included black sailors. It was an easy way to identify sailors with a shared background to go and party with.
When you typed that he was smiling down on you, most likely awaiting your eventual reunion.
Guys who won’t back down attract friends who won’t back down... The very best kind of friends.
OIF Frank AKA “golux.”
There are four people who can tell the Commandant of the Marine Corps what to do. They are the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (Gen Mark Milley appointed in September 2019), the acting Secretary of the Navy (James McPherson, appointed April 2020), the Secretary of Defense (Mark Esper, appointed July 2019), and, of course President Trump (elected January 2016). All of these are Trump appointees (other than Trump himself, of course). Are you saying that a direct Presidential appointee, or the President himself, told the Commandant to make this decision?
This marine general is a committed leftist. I expect he will order all bases fly the rainbow flag at some point in the future.

You stated that “this marine general is a committed leftist”. He was appointed Commandant of the Marine Corps in July 2019 by President Trump. Do you really believe that President Trump would appoint a “committed leftist” to be the Commandant of the Marine Corps?
Thanks for your thoughts. He was a good ole country boy from South Carolina. He would joke that if we had to be in Vietnam, “at least we are fighting with the south against the north.”
He always in good humor with some cornpone joke that would make you smile or laugh whether you wanted to or not. He was stubborn as hell, reliable, with a prickly sense of honor and impossibly brave. Whatever he got from home that was edible, he would readily offer to share it with the squad.
He told me that has far as he knows, no one in his family owned slaves, but letters from his great grandfather revealed his anger over the invasion of the south by the north in the “War of Northern Aggresion.”
I named my first son after him. I told both him, my daughters and my grandchildren that you are here because HE was THERE for me, at the risk of his life. I will never forget him.

I cannot confirm this, but I’ve heard that there’s probably more Confederate battle flags flying in Pennsylvania than there are in any of the southern states.
I fly the Bonnie Blue flag now because my American flag had become terribly faded and needed replacing. Until I get a new American flag the Bonnie Blue is staying there.

I live in Maryland but vowed long ago that I would never fly its flag until all the Democrats are thrown out of Annapolis.
In addition to Old Glory, I rotate on my second flag pole the Bonnie Blue, the first CSA (Stars & Bars) flag, the Confederate battle flag, the State of Mississippi flag, the Betsy Ross flag, the Gadsden (Don’t Tread On Me) flag, Gen. Lee’s Headquarters flag, the POW/MIA flag, and finally the Sons of Liberty (vertical red/white stripe) flag.
Anyone who doesn’t like the flags I fly may attempt to remove them. Since I started flying them over 10 years ago nobody has been foolhardy enough to risk doing that.

If and when the SHTF again, he’d be wise to stay way to the rear of front!
I believe Buckner was the highest-ranking American officer killed anywhere in WWII.
Do you really believe that President Trump would appoint a committed leftist to be the Commandant of the Marine Corps?

I do and I’m a 100% supporter of him, have been since the moment he declared his candidacy, and would crawl through a minefield if necessary to vote for him in November! However, the reason I believe he would make such an appointment is because, over the past three and a half years, he has demonstrated a tendency to get suckered into giving the nod to some real arseholes. Think the Alabama Weasel, for one!
It appears CMC Berger had a deep-seated solution in search of a problem. Too bad his best shot was Maggie’s Drawers.
There were three other Lt. Generals killed during World War II. Buckner and McNair were posthumously promoted to 4-star general.
My younger son was in the Marine infantry. He said the sign you were truly accepted in his rifle company was when others would routinely apply the worst racial, ethnic, or sexual slurs to you. God help the Corps if they are no longer that outrageous.
Oh, that is so true. They may not have had slaves on their farms and in their households, but British commercial and agricultural sectors had no problem prospering from those people.
From reading Winston Churchills, A History of the English Speaking Peoples, one can see that fewer than one in a hundred could have been motivated to defend slavery. But all believed even a most restrictive meaning for states rights would preclude a faction from promoting their agenda by using the federal government as an instrument of military conquest.
