This is another article on the sidebar of the page you posted. Your’s was on use of cheap masks protecting workers.
The WHO’s (and others) argument is that a cheap mask on the sick person will help prevent the spread. The study I posted has the sick people wearing the mask, but also shows dismal results when it comes to the flu.

In an intention-to-treat analysis, rates of clinical respiratory illness (relative risk (RR) 0.61, 95% CI 0.18 to 2.13), ILI (RR 0.32, 95% CI 0.03 to 3.13) and laboratory-confirmed viral infections (RR 0.97, 95% CI 0.06 to 15.54) were consistently lower in the mask arm compared with control, although not statistically significant.
A post hoc comparison between the mask versus no-mask groups showed a protective effect against clinical respiratory illness, but not against ILI [influenza-like illness] and laboratory-confirmed viral respiratory infections.
I have no idea what a “clinical respiratory illness” is or how it is different than the flu.
But it sounds like the cheap masks really don’t do any good.
Seems like the expert advice on wearing cheap masks is based on “Don’t just stand there - do SOMETHING!”

I bought several shemaghs off ebay, got two made by Rothco, a black one, an urban digital and then I found a good deal from a seller in the UK with the good for me exchange rates a woven gold one, they are limited.
Where I work here in Alaska soon will have a lot of blowing silt in the air. I still have N95 masks if I have to go shopping but there is no law forcing us to wear them.

Yesterday I saw a thread here — Trump Train, I think — that showed how to take a MAGA hat and turn it into a face mask. It requires cutting and sewing.
And there’s the image of a guy using ladies’ panties. Very weird.
