Shedding some light upon this, however, is Sophos which explains:
[I]n some cases, use-after-free bugs can allow an attacker to change the flow of control inside your program, including diverting the CPU to run untrusted code that the attacker just poked into memory from outside, thereby sidestepping any of the browsers usual security checks or are you sure dialogs. Thats the most serious sort of exploit, known in the jargon as RCE, short for remote code execution, which means just what it says - that a crook can run code on your computer remotely, without warning, even if theyre on the other side of the world.
If Sophos is right, it makes a lot of sense that Google would consider the exploit serious enough that it wants the details kept secret from potential hackers before most Chrome users have upgraded and are safe.
Chrome 81.0.4044.113 is rolling out for Windows, Mac and Linux right now. You can check your version of Chrome by clicking the three vertical dots in the top right corner of the browser then navigating to Help > About. As long as you are running this version (or above if you are reading this post at a later date) you are safe. If not, you must update urgently - something Chrome should prompt you to do on its About page.

“it likely that there is financial information on your kids computer?” If it is it wont be mine. I dont have any info.
Followed instructions...can’t update
“....”Chrome is shit.”.... Is that why Microsoft chose to base Edge on Chrome?”
probably ...
CCleaner Browser is a retool of a Avast browser and is compatible with a number of Chrome extensions...i have it and occasionally fire it up...seems to work good and also resource friendly.
Considering that you support 'em, the kids should be paying *you* an allowance.
Upgrading to 81.0.4044.113 is not an option for Linux users using a 32 bit distro. Has to be 64 bit.
Heh... the page checks visitors’ OS and didn’t know what to do with me. :^)
Okay, but I use windows 10 64 bit, so it updated automatically once I went to the about page. 8>)
right now my son is paying most our mortgage and buying us food. since I am out of work and he is not. He is a good kid.

Be proud CJ! You raised a fine young man.
Thanks, I am proud of him. His mom passed when he was 5. My other kids are pretty good too. Thanks be to God.
I share your pain. My wife passed after 9+ years from cancer and I always wondered if I was doing the right job and he will graduate with honors next month from high school. Virtually of course. :)
Keep up the good work and know that you are making his Mom proud.
Thanks, I am proud of him. His mom passed when he was 5. My other kids are pretty good too. Thanks be to God.
> “Unfortunately, firefox has turned to crap and IE is ridiculously antiquated.”
Firefox went downhill after their board fired the CEO/Founder for not supporting the Homo agenda. From what I understand he wasn’t anti9-Homo so much as he wouldn’t support their using Firefox to push their agenda.
> “Ive been using Brave a little more, but mostly to get past the free read limits and ad-blocker blockers that some news sites have.”
Brave is fast and scandal free. It is open source and transparent so there is no hidden spyware as there is in Chrome and other browsers.
Chrome and Brave both derive from Chromium which is open source but Chrome compiles it so they can hide spyware whereas Brave keeps it open source but adds nice features.
I am happy with Brave.
Some people swear by Opera but I have no experience with it.
God bless.
Color me gray but I have avoided Google from day one. Of course they still track me; welcome to Digital World.
