I read about this last week.

Ojibwe artist Patrick DesJarlait remade Mia in the mid-1950s. DesJarlait also created the popular Hamm’s Beer bear, and his work is represented in the collection of the Minnesota Museum of American Art in St. Paul.

She was an homage to native Americans. Not an insult. Land O’ Lakes should have kept her, and established a fund to help fund education in the professions for native Americans (professions = all professions, including skilled trades).
