Well dogs should not get infected. Only good news in that study.

Cows, pigs, sheep, cats, goats, buffalo and pigeons. They can all get infected. Big news breaking soon.

“… . The Yale University historian Donald Kagan calls Thucydides’ account “a source of wisdom about the behavior of human beings under the enormous pressures imposed by war, plague, and civil strife.”... “

A fun read. Somewhat germane.

I’m wondering if these were fruit bats, which if I recall are the only ones that don’t make their own Vitamin C, which if true, has interesting implications.

The thing that I have liked best about Trump is his willingness to not take sxxt from China.

I guess there are those who are not unhappy that WaPost employees might not be getting sick leave.

I was helping a gay man in his 30s after he was told his T4s were at 400 and he had HIV. At the time he would get tired after walking one city block. I got him on a regimen of supplements and better food. Three months later he was able to walk 5 blocks carrying a grocery bag in the snow and his T4s were 1100. Then a lover broke up with him, he lost his job and he had to move back home with his very abusive parents. He was depressed and couldn’t find his vitamins after the move. He was dead in 2 months. I think this means take good care of your nutrition and your mental health.

When I first commented, it had not registered that this was in a homeless shelter. I guess the takeaway is that if you are tough enough to survive homelessness, what’s a little virus? The weak ones have already died.

Something worth considering.

But the life of America’s homeless is better than the life of Man historically.
Until WW1 most of Mankind were slaves.
And before that they were hunter/gatherers.

He was depressed and couldn’t find his vitamins after the move.

Those conditions can trigger a lot of diseases, to include cancer. :(

No nd/td chart tonight?
Still useful IMO, though NYC messes it up.

Guccifer?
you mean this one?
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-37250907

or this one?
https://www.thedailybeast.com/exclusive-lone-dnc-hacker-guccifer-20-slipped-up-and-revealed-he-was-a-russian-intelligence-officer

But you might not need either one. IF China is telling the truth it should be easy enough to find out by checking the bio companies in Sichuan. But since they’re not allowing foreigners in China, could be a little tricky. Not impossible by any means, but tricky.

This will be the last projection and graph I'll hopefully need to post, unless things take a turn for the worse.

I've basically taken Korea's success and used their curve for what our future may hold. Once Korea dropped below and held below a 5 DFI, in approximately 20 days they were able to drop below 1, and have held that for two days now. Korea had 1 death yesterday and two deaths today. We're going to have more deaths daily when we get to where Korea is now, because even 1% of 50k - 75k is still quite high.

The US is below 5 tonight. Tomorrow is usually the Sunday dip, with a Monday spike following. If the US can stay below 5, I'm hoping in 20 days, the US too will drop below 1 on the DFI scale. That's what I've programmed into the projection below.

The last numbers on the projection are close to what president Trump mention today, 60k+, IIRC, during the briefing.

If the DFI stays below 5 or lower, we should start seeing major drops in daily numbers after about the 1st of May (see projection below).

Remember, I'm just some IT nerd with a computer and a few programming skills, and much can and likely will change. The farther out the projection, the less accurate it will be. YMMV

Good luck, and God bless!

https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2013/11/20/246393329/how-a-vitamin-d-test-misdiagnosed-african-americans

“For Caucasians, blood levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D are a pretty good proxy for how much of the bioavailable vitamin they have. But not for blacks. That’s because blacks have only a quarter to a third as much of the binding protein, Thadhani says. So the blood test for the 25-hydroxy form is misleading.

His study finds that because of those lower levels of the protein, blacks still have enough of the bioavailable vitamin, which explains why their bones look strong even though the usual blood tests say they shouldn’t.”

“Everyone who came out of Africa had the ancestral genotype associated with lower vitamin D-binding proteins,” Thadhani says. “When humans moved to areas with less sunlight, a different genotype evolved. The further north they went, the more people needed reserves of vitamin D. So D-binding protein levels went up.”
And that genetic difference in vitamin D-binding proteins is what researchers have finally figured out.”

Thanks.
Assuming the west coast doesn’t go nuts, there’s still a big gap between NY metro figures and the ‘rest of America’ however.

We’ll see how it goes.

Anyway, there may be a big market for a tool that helps understand an infection solely on it’s nd/td ratio.
As in this case, sometimes that’s all we know.

Horseshoe bats make their own Vitamin C. They are also riddled with Prevotella bacteria. The Corona virus lives in the Prevotella in the bat and its innate Vitamin C generation protects the bat from the Corona virus attacking its organs.

Humans are incapable of making vitamin C. We must take it. We also have Prevotella bacteria in oral, nasal, gut, lung, and vaginal surfaces. Since we lack innate vitamin C generation, SARS-CoV-2 is free to infect any of our cells with ACE2, CD4, CD147 receptors as well as our Prevotella colonies. A bloom of Prevotella in the presence of sugar and reduced oxygen provides significant additional growth substrate for SARS-CoV-2.

The metric certainly has potential. Especially in the hands of a team of skilled individuals with access to mountains of accurate data. It's a fast indicator for things like success of cures and treatments, but lags infections by a couple of weeks.

Numbers of those who present with symptoms and test positive are better/faster indications of how fast an outbreak is spreading. When we started this, there wasn't that much testing available for the US, however.

I also think it's the best tool for scoring states and countries on how well they're doing. Keeping score, and striving to be the best is a strong motivator for bureaucracies to do better.

If you can figure a way to get FR some donation funding from it, be my guest. :)

Personally, as to how the fight goes against Corona, I'm not too sure how well we'll fair if we don't hold tight to what we have in place. PPE will offset the removal of lockdowns, but PPE will only work if put to good use.

We have to be smart and diligent. I know I'm very thankful we have someone like president Trump in office running the show. If it had been Obama in office, I hate to imagine the thousands upon thousands who would have died, until our HCS collapsed, and then the numbers would have been in the millions.

I've really enjoyed the opportunity to work with you on this and have learned a lot in the process. I wouldn't have put anywhere near the effort into it without your encouragement. :)

lol ! - the pet got shampoo’ed, the car got lysol’d. I wouldn’t have taken her but she had blood in her urine so pretty much a gotta-go ‘urgent care’ type situation, human or pet.
