Covid lawsuit immunity
4/17/2020 | Self

My suggestion for restarting the economy.

We need to grant immunity to every person, business, governmental agency, from any lawsuit, concerning Covid / flu.

Keep the lawyers away.

Dunno about that, if some jerk goes around intentionally trying to infect people, there should be recourse.

Homosexuals of already established changes in law that you do not even have to Declare your HIV status to a potential sex partner if you are positive. So Goes one disease so goes all. If there’s no legal repercussions for a person with HIV having sex with someone without disclosing this then nobody can be prosecuted for Covid h1n1 or any of this

It’s already been proposed at https://reason.com/2020/04/13/should-congress-preempt-coronavirus-liability-for-businesses-that-reopen/.

Or some business could use CV as an excuse to abuse the rights of his employees.

No doubt. I’d say that is happening right now in some hospitals with regard to PPE.

That's already covered under multiple criminal statutes. There's justice available through the criminal court system. We need to keep ambulance chasing lawyers from bringing the economic recovery to a halt by trying to extort money from businesses trying to reopen.

I can agree with that with regard to businesses re-opening.

I am still troubled by the way some hospitals are treating their employees though, and these are essentially front line soldiers in a biological war.

In Texas, knowingly transmitting HIV to a partner is a felony.

Absolutely they could. I vote no immunity.

I agree. The potential of lawsuits is going to make it harder for companies to want to reopen. Lawyers should not benefit from this horrible tragedy. Remember, the trial lawyers are among the biggest contributors to the Democrats.

I am a lawyer, and I absolutely agree...because first I am a citizen and a human being.

Someone who deliberately spread the disease should be criminally charged.

I take a different approach. I believe every man, woman, and child who gets COVID be sued into the ground.

Thanks for the link, we will have a hard time recovering if every action has to be 100 percent something. We have to do the best we can.

Or at a minimum limit the level of liability and make the person that files the lawsuit pay the court and lawyer costs if he loses.

Keep the lawyers away.

Should have been a rule of ours for our fedgov pols for decades. Who the hell else can write legislation that's thousands of pages long? Who do those Bills really represent? Lawyers. (or lawyerticians as I like to call them) Who's got plenty of lawyers? Big business. Therefor, who owns fedgov/pols? Big business.
