I must be missing something. Why does this nave new relevance now?
Okay, so one member of the band is a nutcase racist.
What about the music? Anything anti-Semetic in the music?
The writer doesn’t seem to understand that Roger Waters is NOT Pink Floyd. He left the band in 1980 I believe. I can’t think of any PF lyrics that were anti-Israel.
My wife still loves Pink Floyd but I don’t listen to them anymore. If they come on the radio I change the channel. Both Roger Waters (militantly) and David Gilmour (casually) espouse the most rabid, old school Jew hatred. Oh, it’s focused on Israel but it’s just the same old crap.
Iregardless of this particular group, it has been my studied opinion for a very very long time now that the music is the candy that pulls you in, it’s the lyrics however that can very well be the poison.
I knew Waters was a douche, but sad to hear that about Gilmour.
A recent post about Roger Waters reminded me of this excellent take down from 2013.
Yeah, lyrics is what I meant.
In which song or in which interview?
True, PF was an incredible band. I never saw any anti-Israel messages in any of PFs music. Roger Waters is now disgusting. I at 1st liked The Dark Side of the Moon. Heard it too often. Got tired of hearing it. The lyrics of Money is BS was garbage. If PF thought money was BS then why did they charge money for their concerts.? At any rate I liked PF. I do not like Roger Waters. And while I find Jews who vote Democrat to be creepy, I chose to stand with Israel.
If Roger Waters was a Conservative, the Political Left would have destroyed his reputation and his livelihood.
The “relevance” of people like Waters never grows old.
Four months ago, 32% of the United Kingdom voted for the Labour Party, which was led by Jeremy Corbyn, a man who was openly anti-Semitic.
As a lifelong friend of the Jewish people and the nation of Israel, my advice is to ALWAYS pay very close attention to the people who hate you.
Rabbi, to be anti-Israel it is sufficient but not necessary to be anti-Semitic. Don’t play the equivalent of the race card.
Chaim Witz (Gene Simmons) could punch his lights out.
I am just a Jesus believing Disciples of Christ on the sidelines watching this play out.

Ive been a Pink Floyd fan since around 1970, and when Waters became obvious a few decades later, I continued as a fan in spite of that. I am frankly appalled by Waters, but that doesnt reflect on Gilmour.
Please support your statement?
Gilmore hasn't been a raging anti-Semite like Waters. Does this pic make Gilmore a mild anti-Semite? I don't know. But I'd never claim that this pic is prime evidence that he is.
Just like I think John Lennon was little beyond Bowie's "Fame" after the Beatles, I think Waters was little beyond...well...touring The Wall after he left Pink Floyd. Gilmore, like McCartney, had a pretty decent solo career. Talent rises above the sum of the parts.
Other than a few times Gilmour helped Waters with a Palestinian charity I can’t find any evidence of him saying anything against Israel. So, it seems I stand corrected.
I also believe I was confusing Gilmour with an author who is either also named David Gilmour or most likely using the pen name David Gilmour.
So, you guys seem to be correct. Sorry.
Still can’t enjoy Pink Floyd anymore, though.
Waters is a giant knob.
> Waters is a giant knob.
Indeed. Id say youre even being generous. Despite his considerable musical and lyrical talent, he revealed himself to be possessed of an evil heart. Id call him just a small knob, perhaps a knoblet.
