Seems to me that the people who were too smart to volunteer their DNA to 23 and Me are now going to be compelled to contribute to a national DNA database in order to go out and buy a loaf of bread.

Testing for virus is not the same as sequencing the genome. The genetic material in the coronavirus is RNA. The process of purifying RNA removes any DNA from the sample. Your DNA would not be sequenced in an assay designed to detect Covid-19 RNA.

The reason it is touted is it is a new medicine, whose patent has not expired, and companies are set to make $$$...HCQ patent expired a long time ago, it is dirt cheap.

https://virologyj.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/1743-422X-2-69 Actually, its part of a solution and the First scientific study showed that...fifteen years ago.

Old chloroquine (and derivite) work was done on cell cultures. It says nothing about the drug working in vivo.

Remember that new promising anticancer drugs are discovered every few months -- in vitro.

But I would not argue further, if one wants to believe in magic bullets, why not?

Remdesivir is patented and costs a Gazillion Dollars per pill, and the treatment has to continue until the patient croaks.

Hydroxychloroquine and the Z-pack are both off patent, and cost pennies per pill, and they work as a cure and a prophylaxis. People get well, and get on with their lives.

It's that simple. Democrats are genocidal maniacs.

yeah, but the hydroxy side affects have been known for many years. You won’t be able to fulyknow the Gilead drug side effect for many years. Also, if hydroxy t is proven to be a prophylactic the dose would likely be a very small weekly regimen that would cost peanuts.

Because its a Big Pharma and Deep State Conspiracy.

Serious question: Have you ever paid attention to the process that medications go through for approval?

My guess is that this is most folks first time watching something like this closely. It comes across as plodding and time wasting. That is intentional. After some issues in the past (Polio Vaccine, Thalidomide, etc) the process is put in place to prove efficacy and safety.

MOST of what everyone has heard on HCQ and this one are the definition of anecdotal. Anecdotal does not me “ineffective” it means not statistically based against the standards. And, no...tests done by a single doctor without a control group is not “standard.”

HCQ IS approved and IS being used across the country. I am not sure what the excitement is about on FR. Its not like its banned or called dangerous.

There are people literally ranting, in all caps with exclamation points about this on every article these days. They point to Trump and Rush, saying they call it a miracle drug. Trump and Rush are not research doctors who are obligated—by ethics and the law—the follow the prescribed process to approve drug use.

We need to stop ranting and start learning. We need to learn what the process is. We need to learn why it is the way it is. We need to educated ourselves what words mean; for example “anecdotal” and “proven.”

We need to accept that something is approved. We need to understand that doctors are going to try what they know to be the best possible treatment for the individual.

Taking respiratory advice from Rush Limbaugh, a man who has literally smoked himself to near death, is probably not the best course of action. If there is anyone in the world grasping at straws for a miracle cure, it is he. It might be best to keep that in mind before jumping on his bandwagon.

The Covid-19 virus test isn’t being used to build a national DNA database, where did you get that crazy idea from?

Remdesivir is a new drug, as as such protected by patent laws, which means it may be sold for very high per-dose prices, and remain a protected market for years, potentially a bonanza for the pharmaceutical company that brought it to market and holds all the rights. The hydroxychloro-zinc-azithromycin protocol is NOT protected by such patent laws, and therefore, can be produced much more cheaply.

Cheap is not good, you know, or so goes the old marketing ploy.

In a one-on-one comparison, remdesivir is the expensive drug, but its superiority, if any, is not justified by the pricing.

IMO, you need look no further than the Dr. Zelenko prescribed treatment. His out-patient treatment regimen, which costs only $12, is as follows:

1. Hydroxychloroquine 200mg twice a day for 5 days

2. Azithromycin 500mg once a day for 5 days

3. Zinc sulfate 220mg once a day for 5 days

I can see a reason, economics and politics aside.

It acts directly on the virus, interfering with, and essentially stopping its replication. That stops further damage and allows the body to clean up. It’s a direct and easy to understand mechanism.

That doesn’t mean its superior to HCQ/Z-Pack/Zinc. That remains to be determined. And the answer might also involve severity of infection and stage of illness. This s**t is complicated.

It’s really simple, they both work! Just at different times. Remdesivir is good for patients that already been damaged by the virus (critical care). HCQ/Zinc/Antibiotic is best given when first detected to prevent hospital stays and reduce contagious time.

They are not incompatible. It never had to be one or the other. They should both be used at the right time and for the right purpose.

Because trump didn’t mentioned it! Hydrochloridequine has been savagely attacked because the president mentioned it as a possible antibiotic against CV. THAT’S WHY! They hate this man more then Hitler who killed 60 million Jews and all most destroyed the whole globe...Hitler they adore with a passion and worship him at his satanic altar!

“Because Big Pharma can make a Mint of $ on the new drug ...”

Especially when they farm it out to Tanzania for mass production and tack on 5,000 % mark up.
