No. For one thing I’ve been on 12 hour days, 7 days a week, plus nightly call without a break now since mid March and I am tired. Yes we still have jobs, still making far less than we could in other non-public positions, and yes, the paycheck will be nice when it comes, but it will not replace the lost time with my kids. That plus consider that we are probably more infectious than most. We get exposed and many may likely have this virus asymptomatic. Do you really want to intermingle with us? I am promised some time off after next week and I want to hit Costco.
Thanks for chiming in.
So time with your kids is more valuable than mine spent standing in line, running from store to store to find the things you can take without limit?
If you want respect, you do not take special license. The most hated people I knew in the Marine Corps were those who took advantage. A good leader does not do that. Cops who take license are not good leaders.
There’s a contingent on FR that just really hates cops...it goes back years. It’s actually kinda reassuring to see that some things are constant.
Be safe!
I feel your pain. Now shut up and do your job... You signed up for it, quit if you don’t like it, but be a man and do your job without complaining.
Thank you for all you do...
I am a physician (critical care)
when this started and the local grocery stores were curtailing their hours AND there were runs on supplies, I was due in the hospital at 7 AM and done at 7 PM. Thus, I never had an opportunity to shop expect for the last 15 minutes of the day when there was nothing in the store.
it is completely amazing how people will S*** on the people that they need (front line providers, LEO, and others) in the most selfish of ways. Yes there are bad cops, and bad doctors, and bad everything else, but the responses of the cop haters are beyond unreasonable.
It sounds as if you are in health care, but in whatever you are, thanks for your service and for all you do!
Agree. I am healthcare and by the time I can get to the store in the evening, there is hardly anything available. I would actually like some food. I may have money but cant do much without food to buy.
Well I personally worked 12 hours on weekends and 13 hours on weekdays a in a private job for an entire fall only missing 5 days 2 of which I was too sick to work. The job required inspection of, weighing, and directing. dozens of trucks daily including verifying ID of drivers from all over North America with many having little English.
And dispatching site responders to various alarms involving hazmat.
For less pay and certainly less benefits than police.
There are many thousands of people who work just as hard and deal with serious dangers every day without the perks of police.
thank you for what you do. I for one appreciate it
