Paul LaFrance, a business owner who lives in the Detroit metro area, has never protested. But that's going to change this week.
He's joining a group of Michigan residents planning to protest their governor's stay-at-home order at the Michigan Capitol in Lansing on Wednesday.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat who was elected in 2018, issued a new stay-at-home order on Thursday to combat the coronavirus pandemic. The order, one of the nation's most stringent, included closing parts of big-box stores that sell gardening and home-improvement goods, limiting the use of motorboats, closing public golf courses, and curbing interstate travel.
The order has affected small businesses too. Workers in the lawncare and construction industries have said it hampers their ability to make ends meet. Nationwide, in the past three weeks, shutdowns related to the outbreak have put an estimated 17 million Americans out of work.

Doesn’t pertain to the issue. 1st and 14th A are more than adequate to slap her around.
Doesn’t pertain?
:: deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution ::
It protects 1A and 14A by giving individuals an avenue to defeat such police-state tyranny.
If a few truckers and RV owners start clogging up the roads in Michigan it will be a real mess fast and people in Michigan are very heavily armed. She will not survive this mess she created.
Since Joe is already having dreams of Senator Harris and him defiling all the rooms in the White House and VP Residence, The governor needs to up her game. Torturing Michiganders won’t get Joe’s attentions anymore and any comments against Senator Harris will be seen as RACIST!
Heil whitmer keeps rolling off my tongue.
Gretchen The Terrible
As Ive said elsewhere, my neighbors are still going to work, can stop at Walmart, but my husband cant go to the cabin on his hunting land. Makes no sense. My somewhat notorious rep, justin amash has actually said heil whitmer went too far. Whats that about a blind squirrel?
I havent seen any real specific, on what they actually plan to do, but my friend tells me they plan to block off roads, but I dont know which roads, or how many. We shall see. The governor, however, knows she is hated.
Lansing shouldnt be too difficult to shut down. Block the exits and shut down Grand River Ave. I bet there will be mass break ins around the state of people fleeing down state. This Governor doesnt know Michiganders the state isnt as liberal as she thinks, they have strong family values too and they are very well armed.
Anyone know of a Georgia protest? Feel like getting out for one.
I signed over the weekend.
This is true.... as soon as the weather breaks, i am jumping in the pickup to get a load of “agricultural’ mulch..
I live down that dirt road.... LOL
She would be smart to just step down or start major ass kissing with DJT. She lit a powder keg and this is not the state for an inexperienced Democrat wannabe.Michigan loves its, schools, sports, hunting, fishing, religion, communities, and families. The Governor doesnt respect her residents and that is her first mistake.
I lived in Michigan for five years. I have to say that state has one of the most lively political environments one can imagine.
Some of it is incredibly STOOOOOPID (UAW members believing in fairy-tale economics, racial Kool-Aid drinkers in Detroit, etc.) But it is always no-holds-barred and always on the brink of erupting into something.
