Am I Stupid for My Optimism? (vanity)

Posted on 04/13/2020 2:22:58 PM PDT by Bogle

Am I stupid for my optimism? A Nevada hospital is now prescribing Trump Med (easier to write than "hydroxychloroquine"). South Dakota is FINALLY doing a clinical trial on Trump Med. There are loud governmental mumbles here and there about a "rolling reopening"; even cautious once-forbidden talk of reopening schools in May (FL). Here's my controversial proposition: Youngsters may actually learn to love breathing the smell of capitalism when they can return to Starbucks and the movies and dinner dates and bright lights and the malls and beach trips and night clubs, etc. -- we have a president who's not afraid to TELL them that it's capitalism they're smelling. And the leftist media has unwittingly helped with the messaging by pitting themselves and their fellow leftists against Trump Med, which will likely be a major factor in our re-opening. After sitting cooped up in their homes for 8 weeks, even a preponderance of naive young folks will likely understand that it's Pizza Hut and bright lights and baseball games they're enjoying...and not a $2,000 check. If the economy gets rolling again, people are going to love capitalism more, appreciate it more ...curse freedom less. Or am I being naive?

Optimism is never stupid. It's how people get through tough times. Marital breakups, job losses, severe injuries, the list is endless.

It's those who don't encourage themselves that things will get better that take their own lives.

This, too, shall pass.

No. I’m highly optimistic. America’s coming back and we’re gonna come back like a freight train with a load of lions operating jackhammers.

I can’t wait. I’m finally in a position to be able to do my part to help the comeback. We’re eating out frequently and I actually just bought some stock the other day.

I’m excited for the future.

There’s a stupid article making the rounds in the leftist circles about how we should fear the gaslighting of America when it comes to getting back to normal. It makes me sick how defeatist some people have become. As if the way things worked before, ie, Capitalism (yes, with a cost in pollution, disparity of wages, etc) was nothing but terrible.

Americans are at our best when we’re coming up from the mat. I believe this reopening of our nation is going to be legendary in its greatness. With luck, we’ll have a lot more people who understand why borders are important, why Chinese crap in our stores is bad for us, and why globalists must be stopped at every turn.

That’s my optimistic outlook.

Cautious optimism is good. While there will be plenty of bankruptcies, there are plenty who will take a risk to fill a gap. With American business leaders (hopefully) realizing the world of hurt brought home, courtesy of the ChiComs, they’ll bring the jobs home!

My country, Kanadahar? Not so much. Too many will swallow the Bravo Sierra of Bébé commie True-dope. His swill is that Commie China is a good world player and valued trading partner. The majority of Canadians on the Prairies won’t buy the BS but ON and QU will!

Comrade True-dope will do all he can to keep the economy shut down for as long as possible. How better to bring his prized communism in?

Time for the Prairies to turn South!

I, too, am optimistic. I am spending about $1,000 less this month by sitting at home, and that’s adjusting for the increased use of electricity and a private service that’s costing me about $250 this month.

There are people like me who will want a “big ticket” item when the stores are reopened or they feel comfortable going out again.

If you can make it a full day on social media without a “hair/hair industry” joke, congratulations. Salons will be overrun and booked for weeks after the economy opens.

Most of my friends, including me, want to sit on the patio of our favorite restaurants and have a beverage.

I don’t see a switch being flipped, but a recovery over the course of the the summer.

You are not alone. I think we are going to have an amazing ride economy-wise once we open things back up.

A lot of pent-up demand released all at once. Then you have all the factories and other businesses that will rush back to America from overseas. I also see a major infrastructure bill passed. Good times for the construction industry!

Sure, business has stunk,
And Wall Street is sunk.
We're all of us broke
And ready to croak.
We've nothing to dunk,
Can't even get drunk,
And all the while,
They tell us to smile.

Cheer up, gentle citizens,
Though you have no shirts.
Happy days are here again,
Cheer up, smile? Nertz!
All aboard prosperity,
Giggle till it hurts.
No more bread line charity,
Cheer up, smile? Nertz!

Cheer up, cheer up cheer up,
Cheer up, cheer
Up cheer, up cheer up cheer,
Better times are near!

Sunny smilers we must be,
The optimist asserts.
Let's hang the fathead to a tree!
Cheer up, smile? Nertz

You are not stupid. You ought to be optimistic. And not naïve.

But you should be paranoid. Because they are out to get you.

If it is reasonable to be optimistic, it’s OK. If optimism is built on fantasy, I opt with realism. I think it is realistic and OK.

Remember how under GW Bush the Left and their media ran a relentless campaign on how bad the economy was. Eventually their broken clock was right, mainly because the Rats won back the House in 2006 (and thy sabotaged our prosperity) and nobody has repealed the natural business cycle.

Generally, American conservatives ought to lean toward optimism because we live in a truly blessed nation. Leftists are constantly trying to convince people to exchange the truth for their lie . . . and they are all negative all the time. It is essential for them to create a class of people with a chip on their shoulders in order to support a “revolution” against the status quo capitalism. That is EXACTLY what a community organizer like Obama does: agitate to to make the chip on their shoulders grow.

And THAT is why it is so important to re-establish the dominance of Christianity in our country: to encourage people to realize how blessed they are by living in this great country and help them to develop an attitude of gratitude. That is fundamental to contentment and happiness.

I have never seen a leftist who is content and happy. Such people need to be spewed out of the mouth of our culture!!!!

I am not optimistic. I am amazed at the amount of snitches and social-media concern trolls who have appeared in the last weeks. It seems many people love being imprisoned in their homes by big-government. They love the big collective, top-down organization of it all, like some Nazi Nuremberg rally or Soviet mass political movement. Money is being printed and it will be passed out to everyone, so if you are a progressive, what’s not to love?

I have only recently come out of a deep, deep depression after being railroaded out of a job I loved by a complete psychopath boss. If it wasn’t for the teensy tiny bit of optimism I was able to muster, I shudder to think what would’ve become of me.

Hmm, the eternal worrier here. First, a recent study showed that Trump Med may not be the panacea everyone hoped for.

Second, nobody seems to be concerned about the amount of money the government is spending. We are on our way to Weimar Republic level inflation. The money has to come from somewhere. In spite of what leftists believe, the government cannot create wealth, but it certainly good at destroying it.

I hope and pray that the optimists are right and the pessimists, like me, are wrong.
