PA Engineer had a good suggestion with the ozonator...or whatever that machine is called.
I ordered one, because you can do more than just wash produce, with the ozone water/unit.
In the meantime....I am just rinsing realllllly good, giving it a dip in a bleach water, then rinsing, again.
Probably not doing much, but so far it hasn’t kilt us and hasn’t effected taste.
I do not understand your rant.
Logical? What does HIV have to do with this, there is no cure for HIV. HIV can not be spread via air. HIV does not have a high inflection rate, it is mostly a life style choice. Note: not discounting the people accidental infected.
“woah, how can that be logical? 500K in a pop of 40M?” I don’t think we have any options but Herd Immunity.
What is your solution leave people in there houses for years? How do those people make house payments? How do those people feed themselves?
There is no vaccine for this virus, we will not have one in a very long time. They still do not have a vaccine for HIV.
There is no vaccine for Avian Influenza
There is no vaccine for Sars-cov-2
There is no vaccine for MERS-Cov
The hold purpose of shelter at home was not to overload hospitals. The hospitals are not overloaded so we need to start lifting the shelter at home in a couple of states at time.
In South Carolina you can not get regular needed surgeries because of the virus outbreaks. Our local emergency room might have 30 people a night. There is no hospital over run here. Why are we still lock down?
We can not hide in our houses forever, we must be brave and come out face the virus. I am sure it will flare up again with people dying according to the experts then we have to shelter again. War is not pretty. This was the original plan.
If the experts are correct this will go on until we get a vaccine or until we develop herd immunity. There are reports of multi strains of the virus, if it mutates will a vaccine work, no body knows.
The Shelter in place has bought us time to get the manufacturing of medical equipment in place. The medical community should be ready for the next battle in May.
It is so sad but herd immunity is going to cost lives. I believe this virus will shorten humans average life span since if effects people over 70 mostly, if we do not find a vaccine or develop herd immunity. It is still possible this virus just might mutate away too.
If we are not out of shelter at home by July, we will see some major stuff happen in this country that will not be good. People do not believe the projected numbers the numbers have been lower three times, they really think it is all made up.
Look at the divide in Free Republic, there are two camps: One the Just A Flu, and the other the world is going to end.. Very few people in the middle. This is our nation right now.
And....I found hidden treasure, today....I came across a jiffy peat pod starter and a huge stash of seed packets, that I’d put into a large mason jar.
So, I got some of those going, today.
tht is probably the funniest cartoon of the day :)
I always use vinegar mixture for cleaning a lot of stuff. In reading the various guidelines, they all say to clean an area first and then sanitize.
So that’s what I do. Normal cleanup with Vinegar, dry it off and then hit it with disinfectant. I use the Clorox Health or a bleach solution disinfectant. For boxes of stuff delivered, I use the Dakin’s solution strength which is stronger than the normal bleach mixture - 1/8 cup bleach + 1 and 1/8 cups of Water.
image size looks good to me
Correct, that's the total deaths projected for May 20, based on what I'm calling our DFR (daily fatality ratio) number at the time, last night, which was 10.9% and hitting a barrier of 3%, for the duration (i.e., until 20 May).
Keep in mind, these numbers are very dynamic and will change depending upon a number of factors. For example, tonight the US finally broke below 10% DFR, to 8.89%, which will remove approximately 10 - 15 thousands deaths off of that May 20, 125k number.
On Sundays we've been seeing a dip in the numbers immediately followed on Monday by a huge spike. Trying to predict far out, in this case 39 days from now, isn't going to produce very reliable numbers. Just too many factors constantly in flux. But that doesn't keep us from trying. :)
Rinse, dip in bleach water, rinse...
Wow! I’m very impressed.
On another point. If it was practical to protect the “at risk” while letting the young and healthy get infected at a rate that didn’t crush the health system- I’d be all for that.
Eventually it would succeed with the least cost in lives.
Great in theory, but I doubt it’s practical.
“What were doing, is working a whole lot better than let it burn. Not to mention, let it burn means thousands of cases flooding ERs on the same day, every day - impossible to provide care - we sorta dont want to do that.”
Yes. The FluBros are simply stuck in denial. Or stupid. Or Pandas.
Thanks.
I was in a nursing home twice (same one) for hip rehab although most of the residents were either very elderly or too ill to care for themselves or both.
It was not ideal. On my second visit, I was not allowed medically to sit in a regular chair but had to sit in a high one or with a cushion that made me higher, and they could not seem to provide me with either one, so I couldn’t sit down. I finally solved the problem by stealing a height cushion from someone who didn’t need one and of course she made a big fuss and then I got one.
While I was there they gave a resident the wrong medicine.
I’m sure there was much more that was not up to par.
Are they sure that’s what it is, not just the local arms and legs?
I don’t believe it was the one pellet but I suppose a person could be hypersensitive. Do you have any trouble with coconut? Hopefully it’s nothing.
US and UK are continuing a significant downward trend, and look at France go! Happy, happy, happy! Easter! :)
Daily percentage of new Corona virus deaths to previous day's total by country. 25% = total deaths double every 3 days, 20% = every 4 days, 15% = every 5 days, 10% = about 1 week, 5% = about 2 weeks.
“#InThisTogether”
Ty Lil, you’re awesome with the latest statistics!
I keep looking at Sweden vs Czech Republic.
Close in population, both had first CV cases about the same time....one (Sweden) placed no measures and is going for the herd immunity.
The other (CR) placed strict measures.
Number of deaths, as of today...
Sweden - 887
CR - 129
“500,000 confirmed cases would be way too low to be approaching herd immunity for a population of 40 million. It would probably be closer to 4 million confirmed cases to have enough unconfirmed cases to be getting to herd immunity.”
I have to wonder about the people volunteering others to become “herd immunizers”.
I’ve got baby tomato and pepper seedlings going. Finally.
I hope to have enough tomatoes to can sauce/paste.
Yay!! Awesome news, for this Holy weekend.
Thanks for the ping.
Did we ever come upon a good way to clean storebought produce?
Tentatively contemplating a pickup order maybe this week or next. But it would require some thought beforehand and some procedures we havent used.

I’ve been wondering that too. The Dr. that did a video on it, used soapy water for fruit like apples and oranges. Then he was notified by someone that wasn’t necessary so he did an update.
My searches came up with advice to just use lots of running water. I normally use a solution of vinegar, salt, and water in a bowl for lettuce type stuff.
I’m thinking that putting it in a box with a portable UV light might work. I also wouldn’t hesitate to spray with bleach and rinse well for stuff like oranges—wait 30 minutes—bleach generally dissipates by then.
Mostly we are only going to be eating stir fried or otherwise cooked, unless we grow it ourselves. To Date, we only have loads and loads of green onions ready to eat.
Fortunately, we also have a load of potatoes and bags of onions that we got before Corona Chan plus dehydrated or frozen stuff we grew last summer.
