I wonder if he was put on a ventilator. They are finding that ventilators are a death sentence 80% of the time for CoVid patients. Another question, do they know for sure that he was CoVid positive? I doubt that is is wholly a money issue with healthcare, police and firefighters in emergent situations like this. I work in healthcare, and money is not the issue.
I am fortunate in my capacity to work remotely, but if the call went out that they need warm bodies to do things (as we have outlined in a disaster plan) I would be there no questions asked. And I would do so regardless of pay.
Doctors will still treat people, fires will be put out. Granted, in a long term situation that would be a different thing. But this isn’t that yet, IMO.

I should clarify that I didn’t mean that grocers, etc wouldn’t show up and do their jobs just that they are not as well compensated or acclaimed for doing so. My respect and hats off to them as well.

Most real conservatives aren't job snobs. We understand that everyone who works has an important job or task, even if we feel that people who have difficult jobs (or jobs that require specific hard to acquire skill sets like physicians or airline pilots) should be compensated at rates the markets will bear...no matter how high that cost seems to socialists and other collectivists.
We understand that old joke:
When the body was first created, all the parts wanted to be Boss. The brain said, "I should be Boss because I control all of the body's responses and functions."
The feet said, "We should be Boss since we carry the brain about and get him to where he wants to go."
The hands said, "We should be the Boss because we do all the work and earn all the money."
Finally, the asshole spoke up. All the parts laughed at the idea of the asshole being the Boss. So, the asshole went on strike, blocked itself up and refused to work.
Within a short time, the eyes became crossed, the hands clenched, the feet twitched, the heart and lungs began to panic, and the brain fevered.
