Seriously, with all the imprecision and differential timings (no testing, then testing, in some places, not in others, now more, admitted early, turned away, no. of ventilators used, no treatment, now some treatments, social distancing, but parties elsewhere) any data is more slippery than a greased pig.
At least the long term trend line, even with the upticks is holding.
The real problem is that this bug has moved in like an unwelcome mother in law and it is staying. Getting the economy going, living through the damage, and ongoing reshaping of life’s manners and mores are all going to be a challenge for a long time.

Cases and deaths respectively have to decrease 4 days later to be meaningful as far as hope of a downward trend, curve flattening. They have gone down at times as far as new cases and deaths for 2 or 3 days, but not for 4 consecutive days. That 4th day seems like the bad news comes in. At least that is how the chart looks to me.

I’m with you, mostly. The one ‘organic’ exception I’ve made is with Heinz Ketchup. Their (significantly higher-priced) ketchup uses actual sugar, rather than High Fructose Corn Syrup, so that has some value to me. Otherwise...yea, it’s marketing, at least to me.

A lot of people here don’t like Fauci and wonder why Fauci is on the team.
I think it is good when you have people representing both sides of a decision. President Trump is wise having Fauci on his team. Fauci does offer good recommendations and bad recommendations (treatment plan).
President Trumps lets them present their view then determines who is right. Successful leaders will surround themselves with people with different views.
Here on Free Republic we will get into heated discussions. It only makes Free Republic stronger. We do not have a herd mind that will just follow anybody. Don’t take it personal if someone does not agree with you.

I wonder what the flu death would be like if we practice cleaning our hands, not going around vulnerable people when sick, and staying home when sick like we did with the Coronavirus.
I bet we make a big dent in the flu deaths. Not saying shut everything down, just practice the common sense stuff above.
I really think the USA did a great job lowering the curve. Also our hospital (non socialism system) systems were prepared for this too help a lot.
I had a thread from a Dr who had wuhan who was doing ultrasounds on himself as he recovered. I was very authoritatively told he might not even be a Dr..he is..and what he was doing was useless

Seeing I once spent some time in this now distressed (fiscally, politically and now COVOD-19 state), the stats of New York current as of 04/07:
Of the 5,489 deaths in New York since the first one March 14:
61% were men, 39% were women
82% of the deaths were among those age *60* and older
No matter the age, COVID-19 is a serous illness for many people with underlying comorbidities
4,732 (86%) of those who died had at least one chronic disease, with the top three identified being:
Hypertension - 64%
Diabetes - 43%
Hyperlipidemia - 21%

I've wondered if the far worse outbreaks in NY as opposed to California might be for the same reason: more immigrants from the Wuhan area in NY than California, and more travel back and forth between NY and Wuhan during the Chinese New Year.
The home I purchased primarily for the acreage here in GA had one of those stove inserts. It wasn’t vented properly and the chimney interior had so many fires it has a glazed brick interior now. I had it swept but when it’s hot outside it still emanates a burnt smokey smell. It’ll cost about 10k to redo the chimney so we just live with it. What a nasty smell.
This home will become a rental once we build in the back portion of the property but that’s obviously on hold due to the current economic environment.
As we collect more pieces to this puzzle we realize even more who’s to BLAME...CHINA
