RUMSON - The borough man facing charges related to a Pink Floyd cover concert he performed on his front porch on Saturday had no intentions of having a so-called coronavirus party, but simply planned to hold a Facebook Live performance urging his audience to stay at home, his attorney said Monday.

But the litany of charges they are bringing against him are just over the top. They are letting actual criminals out of jail and this guy is getting the book thrown at him.
A misdemeanor, yup. I can see that. But as I said, he was on his own porch playing on his own property and they are accusing him of throwing a pro-virus rally or something. The overreaction here is alarming.
Couldnt have anything to do with the fact that Murphy lives in that town and took it as a personal affront to his great and grand self? Nah.
The other day the kids on the street all took out their instruments and stood on their driveways and played songs that they had agreed to in advance (via text messaging). It was a nice attempt at an impromptu socially distanced concert. I wonder if the police had heard about it, would they have all been fined.
We have a problem here, a very big problem. The governor of NJ sounds more and more crazed each time he speaks. His rantings about lockdown have turned May into August and now is trending October. He is threatening to deal with a recent spurt of crime and gun violence (happening in the places where you know it would) in the State by taking statewide measures. As if we have to wonder what that means. He actually has discussed having the National Guard patrol neighborhoods.
So yeah, when I read about a friend of mine being misdemeanor dumb but getting treated like he was hiding Jews in his attic in 1940s Germany, I get a bit alarmed.
I say his these gathers hard and quick. Get them back into their houses for the good of the nation.
Last weekend we had a sweet sixteen birthday/pool party for the niece. We had about 15 people (all family). We parked the cars around the hood just because...
No issues
Mean while, stocks rally into bullish territory. Which means a bunch of grown men have a combination fist-fight/orgy in trading pits on Wall Street in NYC, one of the epicenters of the virus, and nobody was arrested for “gathering”. Are pit traders part of the “essential” workforce?
How does one person gather?
All floor trading on the New York Stock Exchange ceased two weeks ago. Trading is now electronic only.
Time lord with a few regenerations in the same place?
Well, let’s see how the jury decides. I rather suspect the DA will realize he can’t get a verdict and forget about the whole thing.
Well, then who needs floor trading anyway? To make movies?
Arrest the jurors for showing up.
According to John, he got on his porch and started playing for a FaceBook concert he was doing. My reply to him was, you sick, why would you do that?
Anyway, as he played his neighbors gathered, spaced apart by six feet, around his house. They got rowdy and that is where he should have spaced apart by pulling the plug and going inside.
Mistake? Yes. Misdemeanor, yes.
A crime that gets him punished to this extent while real, real criminals get released from jail, really?!?
After having to retain a lawyer ($5,000 retainer minimum, probably closer to $10,000), undergo processing, having an arrest on his record, etc. The process is the punishment.
In New Jersey? I wouldnt bank on getting a sympathetic jury for anything. You are probably correct. But in the meantime, the media has done its Joe the Plumber, Richard Jewel on dis guy and his rep is ruined.
You would think he hosted a purposeful spread the virus rally.
re: “Trading is now electronic only.”
Been that way for more than a few years now; co-located “mainframes” with the stock exchange “mainframes” ...
Yeah, or interships for new brokerage hires.
There’s a story about that. There was once a tent meeting. The guest speaker addressed the crowd.
“I want all of you what’s been a-he-in’ and a she-in’ to come up here and confess yo’ sins before the Loworddd!
A bunch of men and women came up and kneeled, praying for forgivenes.
“All right! Now all of you what’s been a he-in’ and a he-in’ come for’ard and confess yo’ sins before the Loworddd!”
A bunch of effeminate men come up and kneel.
“Now all of you what’s been a she-in’ and a she-in’, come for’ard!”
A bunch of muscular women in lumberjack shirts come up and kneel.
All that remained was one flat boob in overalls.
Speaker asks him. Pardon me, suh. But ah know you is a sinner like the rest of us. Why haven’t you come for’ard and testified with the rest?
“I realize I’m a sinner, Reverand. But so far you ain’t said nothing ‘bout a me-in’ and a me-in’, so I ain’t goin’ nowhere.”
Lol...wut?
Gather ye rose-buds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today
Tomorrow will be dying.
What is the deal in NJ? Can you not even go out in your own yard or on your own porch?
He should not be held responsible if other people “gathered” , IMO. But yes, he probably should have shut it down or asked the people to back off or whatever, so there was not the appearance of him hosting.
But it is ridiculous if you literally MUST STAY IN THE HOUSE.
