Few venture into the streets of Sao Paulo these days, but Erik Thiago says he will not stop working as a bike delivery man until he gets sick or the government forces him inside.
As others in this city of 12 million stay home to slow the coronavirus outbreak, the 22-year-old rides an hour from his favela in the southern outskirts to deliver groceries, medicine and whatever else residents of upscale neighborhoods request.
Without a face mask and with just a small bottle of hand sanitizer to use between deliveries, he knows he is especially exposed. Still, he wants to keep working to put aside a little cash in case it gets worse.

Keep on, Keeping on. God Bless Him.
I hope he gets good tips.
I told my wife I was making a 'quick' run to Kroger last evening. We're undergoing the same house arrest crap as everyone else, and we were running low on things like bread, milk, Kryptonite (excuse me, I mean my peanut butter LOL), hamburger (two pounds per customer, please), and the local cops are randomly enforcing the mandatory stay-at-home after dark by pulling cars over. Well, there was a marked police unit parked in front of the store doors when I went in, and while I was cruising up the frozen meal section, here comes a cop - on duty and in uniform - walking by with his arms full of frozen dinners. He was glancing every direction like he was pulling a smash-and-grab, and he just kinda tilted his chin my way and said, "Hey, how's it going?" as he hustled by. LOL! I slowed a little and thought, well, here's one cop who won't be citing me tonight, lest I narc on him to his shift supervisor. Hee Hee HAHAHAHAHAHA........
I had Kroger deliver some groceries a couple of nights ago. They left them on the front porch within about 2 hours.
I tipped the delivery person $20.
Favela?
Oh...thought this was USA!
I thought about that, actually. For the first time in what seems like a lifetime, I called in a delivery order for me and the missus Saturday evening. (Papa John’s. Papadias - one Philly Steak & Cheese, the other BBQ Chicken & Bacon. Not bad). But last night, I wanted to push the envelope. I have handicap tags, I’m a gimp with a limp, and I got my walnut and brass walking stick to pimp it out. I figure, if the local constabulary sees me out after dark, they ain’t gonna futz with some slew-footed fifty-something ‘cuz I might be out looking for a jar of Metamucil to mix in my morning coffee. LOL So far, so good.
Ha! Choking on my coffee over here!
A 22 year old who rides his bike two hours per day to get to work, and then spends the day delivering items using his bike, is obviously in good physical shape. Being able to do this, makes him very likely to have no physical issues that compromise his ability to fight off disease. This makes him among the very least likely individuals in the entire world to need to fear the COVID-19 virus. He is more likely to be struck by a lightning bolt on his drive to and from work than he is to be killed by the virus. This is a non story.
E Brasil... but I presently notice a lovely consistency with most Latin nations and Latinas.
Viagra? I guess when you’re hungry. you’ll eat almost anything.
Is he “hangry”?
OTOH, he’s sucking in Sao Paulo traffic fumes and diesel soot all day...pretty hard on the lungs.
