‘Too Naive Or Too Stupid To Be CO’: Leaked Speech Transcript Shows Navy Secretary Modly Trashing Fired Carrier Captain To Group Of Sailors
The Daily Caller ^ | 04/06/20 | Shelby Talcott

Posted on 04/06/2020 7:07:26 AM PDT by Enlightened1

Acting Secretary to the Navy Thomas Modly flew to Guam Monday and delivered a fiery speech to the sailors aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt after their captain was fired over a leaked letter pleading for those infected with the coronavirus.

The speech, a transcript of which was obtained by the Daily Caller, backs the decision to relieve Capt. Brett Crozier of his duties. Modly called the letter, which begged the Navy to send resources and help the at least 155 sailors on board who have the virus, a “betrayal of trust.”

“So think about that when you cheer the man off the ship who exposed you to that,” Modly added. “I understand you love the guy. It’s good that you love him. But you’re not required to love him.”

The acting Secretary to the Navy added that Crozier did not go through the proper channels. He repeatedly talked about breaking a “chain of command” and told the sailors that they should never go to the media for issues.

“And I’m gonna tell you something, all of you, there is never a situation where you should consider the media a part of your chain of command,” Modly said. “Because the media has an agenda and the agenda that they have depends on which side of the political aisle they sit, and I’m sorry that’s the way the country is now, but it’s the truth. And so they use it to divide us and use it to embarrass the Navy. They use it to embarrass you.”

In this speech, he said the sailers back home felt demoralized by what the CO did because they were currently working on helping the crew. So, things were being worked on. Just obviously not as fast as the CO woukd have liked or needed.

you don’t rise to command a nimitz class carrier without having your sh*t pretty well together — even with 8 years of ray mabus lousing things up.

Wow, many here are quick to jump on the CO before stopping to think this through or knowing the facts.

When the first few sailors got sick and tested positive, the CO wanted to get them off the ship before it spread. He was ordered to keep them on board by his chain of command, and a few infected sailors quickly became 93.

Now that aircraft carrier, one of two tasked with defending us from China, is out of the fight, because of the Navy brass not the CO.

The other carrier tasked with defending us from China also has an outbreak and will soon be out of the fight too.

China took out both carriers in the pacific, with help from the Navy brass who ordered infected sailors to be held onboard, without firing a shot.

Now, China can do what it wants in the entire pacific ocean.

And y’all wanna string the CO up.

Whose side yall on? Y’all do know we are at war, right?

Fox Business just reported that the former captain has tested positive for the virus.

To be clear here. The co purposely allowed that email to be leaked to the press, whether intentional or not. The crew of an aircraft carrier (and the entire armed forces for that matter) are in far better health than anywhere in the world. So his panic was just that - panic. An aircraft carrier has a multitude of weapon systems one of which is probably nuclear in nature (neither confirmed nor denied), I certainly do not want anyone who panics to be in charge of said weapon systems. The co was wrong, he panicked and got relieved per the requirments of the service secretary. It was his fault and nobody else bears any blame.

“He went through channels and heged his bet by going through the press too.”

No he didn’t. His immediate superior was actually on the ship, and he didn’t go through him or to him, at least not officially, not on the record.

The skipper didn’t talk to the Admiral on the same ship. He deserved to be canned. The generals I knew would probably have choked the shit out of any colonel who did that.

“They loved this guy because he was an incompetent boob who let them do what they want?”

It was a small percentage of the total crew. Maybe it just as simple as they were the Democrat portion of the crew. Politics has invaded everything else.

“Somebody is lying.

The answer to that question will tell you exactly who.”

.... the SecNav released a lengthy letter going into great detail as to the sequence of events and the reasons that led to the firing. No need need to speculate.

A good place to start looking for those who need to be fired and/or relieved of duty is to see who was appointed or promoted by Obama.

It would not shock me if, like Vindman, Crozier considered himself part of “The Resistance”.

And like Vindman this episode will not hurt Crozier’s career at all.

“you don’t rise to command a nimitz class carrier without having your sh*t pretty well together....”

.....apparently this is no longer true. And then of course, the good Captain may be suffering from an acute case of TDS.
