Students already nearing graduation will now be able to fulfill up to half of their clinical requirements through simulations and lab-based training, the Department of Consumer Affairs announced. Previously, simulations could only account for a quarter of that training.
Nursing schools had clamored for the change since early March as the virus began to sweep the nation.
New York and other states already allow up to half of a nursing student’s clinical hours to come from simulations that mimic a wide variety of scenarios, such as childbirth. Other states this month also relaxed rules to allow nurses to graduate and help fight the spread of the COVID-19 virus, which for most people causes mild symptoms but for some can lead to pneumonia and death.

awesome for California,, much needed changes
So, nursing students can’t train in hospitals because of the Corona virus, but they can then go to work in hospitals full of corona virus. Brilliant. They’ll learn nothing of the real world, then be tossed into the real world, full of simulated knowledge and fake experience. WTF.
Younger kid is one of these students. She’s set to graduate after this final term. Clinicals and classroom instruction are being done online and via zoom meetings.

People learn to fly commercial and military use flight simulators.
Not much difference.
It is like sending young pilots with only 7 hours of fighter training up against the enemy.
What kind of stimulations are we talking about?

Let it breathe...
If it appears not to be breathing...
Give it mouth to mouth.
It sounds more like Nursing students who have already made it to the level to start on the front lines are being considered for simulated completion. No one is for throwing uneducated first year students onto the front line in any industry.
