I looked at a/c filters but many contain fiberglass. That’s just crazy.

In the comments, someone posted bleach will eventually deteriorate wool felt.

I’m still not a believer in their dish towel or t-shirt effectiveness. I’ll use a layer of t-shirt just because I have some but other layers of tighter weaved fabric.

Betcha grocery stores will have people passing out in the aisles from un-breathable masks.

Did you happen to see, on that mask link I posted, how effective the homemade cloth vs the N95s/surgical are, over a few hours?

I thought that was an interesting section/study....

How Long Can You Wear DIY Masks for?

Next, they tested the DIY masks’ effectiveness after people had worn them for 3 hours. Do masks become less effective after getting all wet and humid?

The results showed that moisture and time had very little impact on effectiveness for any of the masks. In fact, the homemade masks actually captured 5.8% more virus-sized particles after 3 hours. Thus, wearing them for several hours seems to have little impact on their effectiveness.

Either moisture or it catching and clogging dust and other air floaties blocked 5% of the holes. Hopefully, we won’t be out and about long enough to find out for sure.

Any analysis of Corona Virus needs to exclude China numbers. Also China closed down all movie theaters last week and still has various restrictions in place. They have not recovered from this yet.

Ah, so this is what celebs and elites are using as their get out of isolation early card. In England, the NHS is saying after 7 days from when symptoms occur, the body has antibodies and you aren’t shedding anymore so you can go out on day 8.

I did read about making your own mask and preferred materials.

It should be at least 200 thread count linen and two layers.

The less light that passed through, the better.

All of the Terry Schiavo folks, and anti-death panel folks are suggesting we let this rip, and allow hundreds of thousands to die.

Excellent point.

Also, seems to be a disconnect regarding the people not dying in the streets and the mitigation efforts having a degree of success.

Maria Bartiromo on FOX just said those who had the virus are immune for 60-90 days.

This is the first I heard the immunity only last so many days.

While I don't know if this is true, I have been warning those calling for herd immunity that coronaviruses do not have a good track record of providing immunity.

1. There has never been a "herd immunity" for a coronavirus in humans.

2. Of the seven coronaviruses that are known to infect humans, only 1, SARS-COV, is known to provide some level of long term immune response, and it has only been tested for antibody response with deactivated virus, as reinfecting people with live virus is far too high risk.

I really hope Maria's expert is wrong, and this virus or a vaccine does provide long term immunity.

Thanks.

I used Made in USA cotton (maybe wool felt) on one of mine, and the breathability was fine. No more/less than with t-shirt type material.

I’m just not trusting of those China made PM 2.5 filters, for some reason.

I wonder why the President simply doesn’t respond that way?

If the media were held to the standards that Trump is held to, then they would fold up and blow away.

Also, some of the Freepers around here will do the same.

Weren’t these people taught anything in their lives?

The planet is his. We are the interlopers.

Yeah, when Bill Gates yells "Get off my lawn!", you don't have a lot of options.

Yes. We did.

None of the hospitals in my area (2 major and three community) because they tore into their back up during the first week of the “flu epidemic” and they simply figured they would order them “next quarter.”

Hospital management and Supply Managers have been playing this game of chicken for years. They should be put in stocks and violated in the public square.

I nuclear family relatives working in each of the major health systems in the area. During their “work from home” days I’ve been listening to the morning “bed calls.” I worked for one of those systems up until late last year. I worked on the Emergency Prep committee. They used to call us the Doom Squad.

The consolidation in the hospital industry will be exposed for the greedy bastards they are—and in the end the result will be the government takeover of health care.

I know the company I worked for needed to come up with cash to pay their 6-9% bonds they used to suck up every little catholic health system in middle America. I wonder how they are going to pay THOSE off?

Any corona virus will mutate over time.

One of the things I recall about this one is that the “lock” in pieces are less cone shaped, and are rather like spears that pierce the cells. My guess is that if the virus mutates just a little, that splicing technique will fit “just enough” to cause problems.

I am probably wrong and I welcome someone with better knowledge to correct me.

Here is why I dont like Birx besides her constant use of the word granular.

She had a temperature. She said she didnt know if it was because of a gastro issue or Covid on a weekend...so she stayed away from a briefing.

Then she popped back up..I think on a Monday.

So she could have had Covid. Gastro issues are a sign of it.

But there she was beside Trump. Even if she had a test that they managed to get back quickly she should have known they give false positives.

That incident put her on my black list.

*** I’m infuriated every time I think about the masks fiasco. ***

Google GSA auctions Denver masks to see how many lots (40,000 masks per lot) of N95 masks the government recently deemed not needed/surplus.

*** Driving around could get you in an accident. That will bring in a cop and the other driver who might be infected and then there’s the wrecker, the insurance guy and the repairmen during a time when many people can’t afford to have an accident. ***

Well, my car goes into the Collision Repair Shop tomorrow. Why did that dumb lady back into the side of my car, and destroy it?
