On Tuesday, authorities in Broward County, Fla. where the cruise ship with four dead and two in dire need of medical attention hopes to dock this week said a plan presented by owner Carnival Corp. does not yet address all their concerns.
A representative for the U.S. Coast Guard said the Zaandam and an accompanying ship would not be allowed to enter U.S. waters without submitting a complete plan for self-support of the medical issues occurring on board the vessels.
At a meeting Tuesday, Coast Guard Capt. Jo-Ann Burdian said a unified command a group of local, state and federal agencies was looking to get concerns addressed and reach unanimous consent for the ships to dock.

“We should assist American citizens at minimum. We are evacuating citizens from the rest of the world so this should be no different.”
I suspect that in a lot of those cases, we’re talking about expats who have been overseas for months or years.
This bunch chose to roll the dice, and lost.
BS.
i have been on the rotterdam. Enjoyed it thoroughly
I thought the ship set sail from Buenos Aires.

It was in an assisted living operation that broke all the rules. Since then at least 4 more people have died there.
Shame on you for being so miss informed.
Unfortunately, this cruise began March 4, 2020.
She, like two out of the other three cases in Broward, is connected to, or employed by, Metro Cruise Services a company at Port Everglades, according to the Department of Health.
With this new case, the department also issued an advisory for anyone who has recently traveled through Port Everglades.
This was from wsmv.com article State of emergency declared in Broward County after 4th case of COVID-19 confirmed
I say it is air traffic especially from New York. There were dozens and dozens of flights from New York with people escaping the city and state.
The first two cases in Broward were at the assisted living operation around March 4th. They traced the cases to employees and construction workers who were not monitored properly.

Found the link.
The first patient at Atria Willow Wood Assisted Living Home died March 14, 2020. Since then at least five more have died.
I agree greedy cruise line.let americans off
What have we turned into???
Not Funny.
You all need to PRAY to GOD something doesn't happen to you!
But as has been pointed out here, there were issues prior to March that indicated that traveling on a cruise ship was risky.
I think on technical grounds, any American on the ship can argue that the formal warning came too late to keep them out of a jam. (Whether or not they were stupid to get on the ship is a different story; the powers that be hadn't yet told them not to, which I would imagine allows them certain benefits or courtesies they would not have been entitled to had they acted against the formal request of the US government.)
Yep - He wants to do the right thing...just working out the details of controlling it so no new cases get transmitted on our shores.
I’M READY TO SCREAM: I read that President Trump is considering (or thinking about) allowing the Holland America Zaandam to dock in Ft. Lauderdale. I really hope that he rethinks this thoroughly. Yes, let the Americans out, but since the ship is registered to the Netherlands, call the Schlub Dutch King Willem and Prime Minister Rutte, TELL THEM THAT THEIR SHIP WILL DOCK IN ANY OF THEIR NETHERLANDS CARIBBEAN ISLANDS - Curacao, Aruba or St. Maarteen, have the Dutch Military step in with medical assistance and be DONE WITH IT!! I’m sick & tired of these European globalists blaming Trump for everything but then expecting him to carry the heavy load. NO! NO! NO!
Have been on five Holland America cruises. Just got off the Oosterdam on Feb. 22. 17-day cruise through the Panama Canal. First two weeks were great, but then my friends and I all got sick(!) I got sent for a chest X-ray when we got home - it was pneumonia. My roommate ended up with all the symptoms, including pinkeye. Hmmm.
