America is stocking up on food, thermometers and hair dye.
The latest sales data from Nielsen shows how our lives have been affected by widespread social distancing and, in some areas, mandatory lockdowns, as the world tries to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Just as in recent weeks, sales of medical supplies, cleaning products, paper goods and shelf-stable food have been remarkably high. But last week, customers also flocked to beauty products salons are closed, after all.
Yeast saw a big spike as we launched new baking projects. And in the meat department, hefty spiral hams have newfound popularity.
Here's some of Nielsen's data on what Americans were buying.
When it’s on sale...I buy several. I’m all set.
Do it yourself vs going to a salon.
Is it any consolation that I have to buy my curls or body>
My hair is straighter than straight.
I was very fortunate that I had a perm appointment on the 10th of March cause I REALLY needed it.
Anyways, I’ll have to make due with something for a cut until this all blows over, but boy are the hairdressers going to be busy!
My hair is greyish silver now....what of it there is!
Plenty at the Stop and Shop on Rt 22 in Watchung NJ...in case anyone was really concerned.
Ah crap, was gonna order some today. Mixed up a small batch of bleach and did some regrowth ...Got enough for one more.
If you get a 50gal drum of Everclear, you can have drinks and hand sanitizer, too. LOL.
So I now understand the toilet paper spike ... people pooping at home verses where they used to get paid to poop.
Yeah, if I made $50 an hour, i was getting paid about $20 to evacuate my bowls each day at work. Do the math for a year ! Not the money, the squares of paper.
But..
Need to ponder deeper on hair dye .. have not noticed an uptick in darker hair in the home here yet.
In the meantime My wife is enjoying Tucker, our Boston Terrier, more than me. He is cute. I used to be.
If nothing else, this is a great preview of what it will look like being retired together .... so far observations suggest more effort needs to be excerted on how to stay a happy couple while aging.
Doubt hair dye is in the equation.
I can believe it. Mine is looking pretty rough. Lots of pony tails these days :)
For yeast you can use Saccharomyces boulardii, a probiotic. It is genetically identical to yeast. It is yeast. Health food stores, drug stores, and Amazon carry it.
“Because salons are closed. The girls are in a panic. Next shortage fake nail.”
A lot of women will be sporting the skunk look.
Oh! LOL!
Do you know the Mrs?
I’m actually losing weight because I’m not stress-eating at work.
Our oldest daughter is a cosmetology student, quarantined at home with us :). So far she has cut both of her younger sisters hair and ordered salon hair color for my roots. I had to take a stab at what the salon (cosmetology salon-saves me hundreds of dollars) has been using for me. Im about due for highlights again, but will settle for another root touch up.
As shes in her first year she hasnt yet cut mens hair so her dad and brothers are out of luck.
I cut my own hair this morning. Looks decent, so I gave myself a tip!
Are you in FL, or Chicago?
Sorry...just looking at your s/n.
Prayers up for your treatment. Stay inside!!!
LOL!
I stocked up on root touch up, months ago.
I won’t have to go (partially) gray, for another year.
I also cut my own hair, when necessary.
Will be at that point, soon :-)
HAAA!!! Yeah, I bought my curls back in my 20’s...LOL! Remember those spiral perms? Nuff said, right?
You know what, I was thinking that too - those hair dressers are going to be seriously BUSY!!
