The one size fits all solution is going to ruin us as a nation. This needs to stop!! Below are what I propose as a common sense approach to dealing with COVID-19. Breaking us up into risk groups makes sense, at least to me.
Group 1: Ages 0-40
This group does not need to practice social distancing or change any behavior with respect to each other in this group. This group can work, play and go about their daily lives as normal with the exception of respecting the practice of social distancing with group 2, 3 and 4.
Group 2: Ages 40-60
This group should exercise some caution when going out in public ( gloves and masks) and protective distancing if they feel it is in their best interest.
Group 3: Ages 60-80+
This group should practice social distancing and avoid going out into the public domain only when necessary.
Group 4: Those at risk w/ preexisting conditions
Maintain complete isolation and have care givers tested regularity for COVID-19 if possible.
Anyone experiencing any type of flu or cold symptoms should consider themselves temporarily part of group 4 and self isolate for the duration of symptoms.
no ICU admissions or deaths were reported among persons aged ≤19 years. Similar to reports from other countries, this finding suggests that the risk for serious disease and death from COVID-19 is higher in older age groups.
Explain how letting those less than 40 years old go back to work would put your elderly mother at greater risk?
Heres the problem with what you propose. Youre using common sense. I dont think thats allowed anymore.
I already told you to do what you want. Explain to me why you need me to explain anything to you.
Go back to the old world. It’s right outside your front door waiting for you.
Case in point myself.
I saw this coming made sure I had 3 months of food and TP.
College kids came home. Daughter who teaches high school and was living with her mom and grandparents, decidied it would be safer for her grandparents if she isolated with me.
UA Huntsville went online and my son came home too.
They are isolating with me. I’m working from home. My son is schooling and working from home. My daughter’s high school students don’t all have access to the internet, so school is just out for the moment.
We are safe as long as we stay isolated together. But the second my daughter has to go back to teaching school, our risk factor goes up dramatically.
Now THERE'S a reputable group for you. Might as well use a random number generator for any "data" coming from the ChiComms!
WTH happened to America on that map!?
Looks like we got painted China red.
Agreed, but they are still carriers. If you can’t separate the age groups, then you put all age groups at risk.
Common sense has been abandoned. Danny you are acting like moron.
Your words underscore the flaw in your logic. Unless, of course, you are prepared to offer authority for the proposition that it is not possible for those young infected members of the family to be carriers.
Yeah your first group spent spring break partying. Then they carried Covid19 back home with them
That defies common sense. Send grandma away and let the young go on living. We can find a place for her or the other way around; let the young co habitat away from the high risk groups..
Let the high risk family members self isolate. Or better yet let the younger crowd live together and then go on living and working or gong to school! The no work thing is just preposterous virtue signalling and politics.
If he is 40 he is at risk. He probably won’t die, but there is a chance he could have a 2 week hospital bill. Not sure what that chance is, but if 20% of the hospitalizations are 20-44 years old, it’s not a insignificant chance.
The way to beat this is to stop the spread until it dies out and there is no virus in the community. That means either social distancing until the spread stops. Or everyone wears masks until the spread stops,
Letting it spread uncontrolled even among the 0-40 age group has costs that are unacceptable.
There is chance you may poses a lick of common sense, just a chance.....
Where are you going to find a place for grandma?
Surely you aren’t suggesting sending her to a nursing home or retirement home. We’ve seen how easy it is to infect those places and then they are all goners.
How many spare empty apartments do you thing there are?
If every family has to split up by age and find new living quarters, there aren’t enough living places.
Pehaps but not if we apply just a little common sense. You are a COVID fascist. Screw that.
We’ve agreed on enough things in the past, I think we both have some common sense.
But this is a tricky problem.
Its not all about age. Lots of people are in group 4 regardless of age. Any metabolic syndrome. Huge bellies even if thin, or diabetes or obesity. Also children and teens - no one knows which of them have underlying immune issues. A baby died just today or yesterday of covid.
People nutritionally deficient may get harder cases than others. People who once had asthma or maybe even respiratory allergies.
Id like to get back to normal but I believe its more the underlying immune strength than just the ages that determines who gets the worst cases.
