As I watched the Prime Minister order mass house arrest on Monday night, I felt revulsion, anger and grief as anyone brought up when this was a free and well-governed country would. I also felt terribly alone. You could not have known, from anything broadcast that night or printed the following day, that anyone was unhappy with these events. But they were. So, above all things this week, I would like to thank all the kind, perplexed people who have got in touch with me by so many means, to say they share my doubts about the Governments handling of Covid-19. There are, in fact, many of us. If you feel this way, you are nothing like as solitary as you think. Next, I would like to thank all those who disagree with me, who choose to abuse me, often with lies, personal smears and swearwords. Your childish, intolerant reaction has strengthened me in my conviction that mine is the better case. If your policy is so good, why can you not defend it like civilised adults? Do you really think that I regret needless deaths any less than you? Can you not accept that I also have good motives? I now suspect this dark season might get still worse before we see the clear, calm light of reason again. The greater the mistake we have made, the less willing we are to admit it or correct it. This is why I greatly fear worse developments in the coming few days. When I predicted roadblocks in my column two weeks ago, which I did, I did so out of an instinct that we were entering on the craziest period of our lives. And now there are such roadblocks, officious, embarrassing blots on our national reputation.

We are not a democratic republic, we are a constitutional republic.
While this is no doubt a serious virus there are many reasons to doubt and to be skeptical. Question everything.
Those guys are drinking their hi balls and smoking their cigars! yukking it up!
Drama queen.
“The globalists are probably rather pleased with that and will take advantage this time, or next.”
It must be very rare when people actually rise up and say NO! to leading, soft or harsh. I was surprised when reading 2 Chronicles 10:18 recently to find an example:
“Then King Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was taskmaster over the forced labor, and the people of Israel stoned him to death with stones. And King Rehoboam quickly mounted his chariot to flee to Jerusalem.”
Jamieson-Fausset-Brown’s Bible Commentary was interesting here:
“...the king hearkened not unto the people, for the cause was of God-Rehoboam, in following an evil counsel, and the Hebrew people, in making a revolutionary movement, each acted as free agents, obeying their own will and passions. But God, who permitted the revolt of the northern tribes, intended it as a punishment of the house of David for Solomon’s apostasy. That event demonstrates the immediate superintendence of His providence over the revolutions of kingdoms; and thus it affords an instance, similar to many other striking instances that are found in Scripture, of divine predictions, uttered long before, being accomplished by the operation of human passions, and in the natural course of events.”
I believe God permitted the American Revolution. All the hand-wringers over “mean America” have no idea how much meaner the world would be without it (they merely complain from their lap of luxury, as bored ingrates). God alone can give us an American “corrective revolution” of sorts.
Love Peter Hitchens. He always looks behind the curtain, It wouldn’t hurt if we all did from time to time. The deviants are at work 24/7 and when someone comes up with something out of step immediately they are shut down as tin foil hat wearing MFers
Amen Pedro
It might be.
After 9/11, we were told all the new security measures, TSA patdowns, and things like the Patriot Act were “the new normal.”
I’ve heard that phrase “the new normal” uttered many times over the past few weeks from doctors, media, and politicians.
This virus is likely going to be with us for quite some time.
"I know it's not apples to apples, the estimated number of flu deaths is about 6 times higher than the numbers recorded by the NCHS, but there is every reason to believe that the actual number of coronavirus fatalities is also larger than the subset that gets confirmed. There has only been 4 weeks of data. Where is this going to end up?"
I don't know whether the NHCS numbers or the Coronavirus death numbers are understated. I doubt either are. But what is clear, is that Coronavirus is ramping faster than flu does. And Coronavirus deaths already exceed on a weekly basis, the maximum weekly "coded" flu deaths, including the 2017 worst flu season in 40 years.
This CV is a serious illness and we need to treat it as such.
Would love to be proved wrong.
Thank you for that! God Bless America!
Thanks for posting this!

I see both sides. If a pandemic carried off everyone over the age of 75, there would be an awful lot of sad talking and slow walking by the majority of the population who had lost their parents or grandparents (not including me; Im older than that).OTOH the economy - and the value of the dollar - can only stand so much. We desperately need useful medicine and the ability to detect carriers of the virus.
I hope everyone is enjoying their 30 day-free trial of Communism.
agree. this guy’s a libtard troll
Assuming that chart is accurate it clearly proves that those who are dismissing the Kung Flu as not worse than the flu are just wrong. Thanks for posting.
However, I do not need to see the numbers to know that this virus is really a big, bad deal. Definitely not your typical flu. I’m truly baffled why people don’t see it. There’s ample evidence in the news every day that this is a really bad circumstance.
In this case, I think the deniers are so emotionally invested they can’t get their heads out of the sand. Oh well, not my problem.
Headline says it all. Many on our side keep on changing diapers.
I may steal that....hahaha...sorta
We have to demand it. Possibly forcibly.
