The local Walmart has 5 quart bottles of Conventional Super Tech 10W-30 for $13.98 and Synthetic for $14.88. Regular quart bottles of all brands/grades are also at months ago prices.
These are the same prices for which it has been selling for months. With the price of oil at around $22 a barrel, that is WAY too high for oil. Doesn't seem to be right with what is going on right now with the whole region in economic distress. Never did see Walmart as gouging, but on this item they are.
Yea, I’m sure dropping the price on a couple quarts of retail oil is at the top of their concern list.
It’s not based on current price of oil it’s based on what they paid per qt......the prices don’t move up or down with current oil prices
Once bottled it is no longer a commodity but a product “bottled oil”. It is stocked priced and inventoried. The price will not change until the stock is replaced with lower purchase price “bottled oil”.
How do you not get that?
Gouging?
Is there a shortage of motor oil?
If you don’t like the price, buy somewhere else.
Hint. About 95% of the price is processing, labor and transportation.
Open up next door and undersell them.
The price of retail items on the shelf which were manufactured perhaps many months ago with all the various costs factored into the price, do not reflect the spot price of petroleum, nor should they.
I believe there is a place to go to report gougers during this mess dont think this is it.
Search it go there or Pepp Boys

THIS
Still less than $3.00 per quart, right? How often do you change oil, every day?
You could buy a barrel of WTI and refine it to make your own DIY motor oil.
No it’s not. Understand that the price of oil is for what’s on the way to refineries and processors. That oil won’t turn into cans of oil on the shelf for months. The oil they have on the shelf now was bought and processed at the price 3 to 6 months ago, which means the cost to WalMart was higher, which means they have to sell it for higher to make a profit. If you saw a dip before it’s because it “synched” with a dip months prior to it.
That bottle is 5 quarts.
So 2.57 a quart.
You can buy two 5 quart bottles of synthetic Dexos spec oil at Costco for 25 bucks.
That’s my suggestion.
Another thing is Wallmart is under the microscope & wouldnt inflate prices.
Not their game plan.
gesh........
Do you know what they paid for whats in the where house??
Those are months old prices

Well, no sympathy from me. I just changed the oil in my Indian today. the oil change kit comes with four quarts of Indian brand synthetic oil and a Polaris filter along with two new copper crush gaskets. $70. That’s why I changed it myself. I think the dealer charges between $150 and $175 to do an oil change
Ive been out of the business for awhile, so things have probably changed.
Gasoline is made from napthanic oil.
Motor oil is made from parafinic oil.
I see the ad about motor oil made from natural gas. Thats all new to me.
Not all synthetic oil is derived from oil.
“Pennzoil is the first motor oil made from natural gas, not crude. Base oil made from natural gas is 99.5% free of impurities typically found in crude oil.”
My 7.3 diesel takes 16 quarts. Try the math on that one. I have it dealer serviced for $180.
Of all the things I could bitch about this would be at the very bottom.
