All I know is that China hasn’t posted ANY NEW CASES in 3 days. They say they HAVE NO NEW CASES. Yet, I read a Reuters story that says Hong Kong has 59 new cases. Does anyone believe ANYTHING China says? Would anyone trust any ‘survival products’ (masks, ventilators) that CEO’s from China?

You’re right. For example on a ‘world level’ China has few cases compared to their population...

I think the population of the US is about 350,000,000. As of this writing, per Johns Hopkins data, there are 97,028 cases and 1,475 deaths. So far then 0.0003 of the US population has been infected and 0.000004 of the US population have died.

I have been playing around with death rate calculations in my head trying to extrapolate a valid number. Here are some thoughts...

1. If you consider the population of the state and multiply it is by the infection rate (between 5% and 13%) you can get a maximum number

2. If you take the test rate and compare it to the positive test results, use that number to extrapolate the projected death rate

Thoughts?

Multiply the population of Texas by 0.000004 (see above) and there’s the projected deaths. Texas has around 25m people, so the projected deaths will be around 140.

Something to ponder from someone in England:

“Today on the 27th March there are a total of a tiny 759 deaths from coronavirus - but even this is a lie. These are people who died with coronavirus, but most did not die of it. Almost everyone had other diseases which caused their death.”

“And even that is a lie - there is no agreed method of testing for corona virus - many old tests for other diseases such as pneumonia are used, all these tests prove the patient had something else, but our dishonest government re-classifies them all as coronavirus.

17,000 die of flu every year (and we never self isolated for them) - by the end of the year most of these will all be re-classified as coronavirus. And in a nation where 600,000 people die every year, these figures are tiny.”

I get all of that and even more....

My point was trying to calculate a real number, not an absurd one like you seemed in the media.

It’s pretty simple. Take any municipality’s (i.e., country, city, county, town) confirmed case count, and divide it by that municipality’s population. That resulting number - confirmed cases per person/per capita - is then comparable to every other municipality. I then multiply that number by 329 million, which is the US population, so now not only is every municipality’s case figure on common terms but they’re in US population terms; a nation of 8.5MM like Switzerland can be compared to the US.
