A Louisiana pastor is apparently defying the governor's order against gatherings of more than 50 people by hosting over 1,000 churchgoers at a service Sunday and bringing together hundreds at another service Tuesday, according to the pastor and local media.

Crazy.
Governor of Louisiana just announced they have the fastest growing infection rate in the US.
Not all church gatherings are equal. Please stop peddling media propaganda.
Catholic Churches offed sanctuary and refuge throughout the week and are never at capacity when open for prayer. Or the capacity can be easily monitored.
Just quit it!
Offer* sanctuary.
Lock him up. Seriously.
Not surprisingly, most of the Louisiana victims are from New Orleans. This church is in Baton Rouge.
Most churches around home are not holding normal services. Most church congregations are aging and that would put their key constituency at risk. Many, including my small country church, are putting services and/or devotionals on line. Our church shepherds are calling members to touch base and make sure they are alright.
He should divert his energies to providing online streaming. The next pandemic may be a lot worse. I don’t look at this as a one-shot deal. Terrorists will get into the act too.
So I suspect we may have to deal with this again in the future and maybe on an ongoing basis. Lot of lessons are being learned.
They should throw up a barb wire fence around the place during the service.
This nut is doing more harm to Christianity than helping it.
I have no idea why someone would scold you for posting. Evil needs light shined on it.
No services, no collections. Penny wise, pound foolish on the part of the pastor.
What makes this propaganda? If the pastor is doing this it needs to be limited/stopped AT THAT LOCATION.
Nothing to do with the Catholic churches.
“And at that time there was a plague in Judea, and many were sick and dying, and Jesus and his disciples went into the home of one named Isolatus, and they remained there for 42 days until the governor gave the all clear.” (Pearlclutcher 2:21).
Clearly you are not aware of the precedents being set when the State can mandate things like whether individuals enter a church to a pray or a priest or pastor wants to be with a dying parishioner at bedside in hospice of a nursing home to pray or deliver last rites.
Currently both are blocked in the name of the virus we all bow down to.
Corona means crown.
Once upon a time churches were where people sought refuge in the midst of far more aggressive plagues, famines, invasions, wars.
Consumerist evangelicals have made church into little more than a crowded social club!
If the aged are at risk they can stay home. The worship of God should not be cancelled. It can be done way more safely than running a liquor store or McDonalds or Costco.
LOL
If the person is dying of Corona they would receive NO last rites, families cannot even visit. Once the person is sent off to the medical facility in an ambulance with Corona that is it. No visits. Nothing to do with religion.
Others dying of illnesses other than Corona would not be prohibited most likely unless there is quarantine as it could be only the priest and the person passing.

Please link the example you are using to say such a precedent has been set ANYWHERE?
And you know, Miss Holier than thou, speak to your own flock because if Catholics voted anything like Evangelicals (IOW, following the word of God), the left wouldn’t exist in this country.
Let me guess, the sermon was on Romans 13?
If this is a real church, I’m with the pastor. Comrade Governor can take his orders elsewhere.
My neighbor said the other day, “We should be turning toward God, not running away from Him”.
