Crazy.
Governor of Louisiana just announced they have the fastest growing infection rate in the US.
Not all church gatherings are equal. Please stop peddling media propaganda.
Catholic Churches offed sanctuary and refuge throughout the week and are never at capacity when open for prayer. Or the capacity can be easily monitored.
Just quit it!
Lock him up. Seriously.
Not surprisingly, most of the Louisiana victims are from New Orleans. This church is in Baton Rouge.
Most churches around home are not holding normal services. Most church congregations are aging and that would put their key constituency at risk. Many, including my small country church, are putting services and/or devotionals on line. Our church shepherds are calling members to touch base and make sure they are alright.
He should divert his energies to providing online streaming. The next pandemic may be a lot worse. I don’t look at this as a one-shot deal. Terrorists will get into the act too.
So I suspect we may have to deal with this again in the future and maybe on an ongoing basis. Lot of lessons are being learned.
No services, no collections. Penny wise, pound foolish on the part of the pastor.
“And at that time there was a plague in Judea, and many were sick and dying, and Jesus and his disciples went into the home of one named Isolatus, and they remained there for 42 days until the governor gave the all clear.” (Pearlclutcher 2:21).
Let me guess, the sermon was on Romans 13?
If this is a real church, I’m with the pastor. Comrade Governor can take his orders elsewhere.
My neighbor said the other day, “We should be turning toward God, not running away from Him”.
So 1,000 people with a possible Cov-19 infection rate of .05% (see **), and a ratio of ill to infected of about 15%, and a ratio of dead to ill of even less than that, means POSSIBLY, 7.5 (or less) direct deaths out of the 1,000, only if none of the hospitalized survive (which is not likely).
So, 1,000 people have taken a chance that they will not be 1 of maybe 7 people who die from Cov-19. Then again, maybe none of them do.
My only point is while the media focuses on “infections” they and the politicians sell that as meaning “death sentences”, which, just like with seasonal flu a Cov-19 infection only means a death sentence for less than 15% of .05% of a population - or about 0.0075%. LIFE is that risky for a ton of reasons, conditions and risks people take every day.
** Case rate per million people for nine countries with highest rates.

swizerland 1,160

And that 0.05% rate is likely lower in reality because of the more than likely millions of asymptomatic and mild cases that have been identified and reported to no one.
He needs to not.
This is a time when this pastor should view one door closed and another door opening. He should find innovative ways to reach people.
Moron. That party in CT had like 50 people there and half of them got it passed it on in their communities.
This is not a quarantine of infected or highly contagious people. No member was known to have tested positive much less been diagnosed. The presumption of contagion is made without examination...by someone unknown to the individual and who does not know anything about the individual’s true risk to himself or others. This has less merit than a “red flag” exercise.
These public health experts are predicting, estimating, modeling, and guessing...this is conjecture. The precise coordinates, time, and date of any actual infection will likely remain unknown.
At the same time, all US governors allow other people with other highly contagious diseases...including those with high or mortality or certain morbidity to move about and congregate and to spread infection.
CDC has been wrong many times. Almost every public health expert over-predicts. Sometimes they appear to actually lie. Remember the AIDS crossover into heterosexuals, 1 in 5 of us were going to be infected! No debate.
There was no crossover. Zip, zero, Nada.
These Governors are overriding inalienable rights, perhaps for the best of reasons, but without due process, and in some situations without much common sense.
We have Freedom of Assembly and Freedom of Worship or we don't.
I have been in healthcare since 1968 and for most of my life. This is not a disease any of us want to get, but some or many of us might. The knowns and certainties keep changing. Even reported diagnostic markers seem to change. Fear is running ahead of reason. We cower wisely I think, but we cower.
Now, I believe in God. He can take me home or leave me here for a while longer. These people choose to assemble and humble themselves to seek God's will and presence. (My understanding of seeking His face.) They worship Him publicly and are behaving in obedience to His command. I would tread carefully in telling them they are wrong. They aren't handling snakes and they aren't drinking Koolaid. (And if they carried prayer rugs...an army of cameras, lawyers and not a few Congresswomen would attend them.)
Now to me the name suggests a Pentecostal or Assembly of God Church, so I'm confused over some of the criticisms about Catholics.
