I sent the links to studies, prepublication studies, and experience in multiple centers.
My favorite is the 3 armed study (French) with no drug, hydroxychloroquine alone, and HCQ with azithromycin where there was almost complete eradication of viral burden.
In an emergency with the saftey issue well established for the drug in all ages, sexes, pregnant women, and with multiple reports & studies indicating excellent results the use of the agent with the transmittal of patient outcomes to build a data bank is warranted.

I saw that chart. I also couldn’t help but notice in the article I read that “we didn’t include confidence intervals because they were overlapping and confusing”. Into the trash it goes. Sorry guys, i have been reading the “Medical Literature” all my life. I know where to look for snake oil and red flags in moments.

Using that logic we would never treat anyone. The next better drug might be just around the corner. We use the best cure we have for the patient in front of us especially if they are sick enough to need hospitalization.

Probably every US soldier in Nam took them. I know two of my friends did.

I took them when I was 13-14 living in South America, and again when I was 18 back in the States. Chloroquine (the first time) gave me an upset stomach. HydroxyChloroquine (the second) did not.

I’m now 71. So far, so good

Plus both of these drugs are regularly prescribed for lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.

Take them or don’t take them. But you’ll die from virus before you die from these drugs.

Like I said, i have seen plenty of people with Lupus. Off the top of my head I don’t remember anyone dying from it and I do have a pretty clear memory of every patient I had that died. In 40 years I would estimate that I saw well over 100,000 patients. If that helps.

My wife has systemic Lupus. she belongs to a support group on Facebook with thousands of members. several in the hospital now, many of her friends have died due to Lupus.

However, now that I think of it, it probably doesn't really matter for either the 'world is ending' adherents, or those seeking miracle cures. Either ones are just opposite sides of the emotionally stunted.

As an aside, here's a tip about working with experienced people who only slightly let on who they are (aka "sandbagging"). One would think that a non-medical person would pause for at lease a moment to reconsider attacking a subject matter expert ie medical doctor. Not only an MD, but one with experience treating regional epidemics and clinical field studies. Hey, but what do I know?

Here's why - as of day 11, they are 5x where Italy was, and 9x where the US was (in total) on their respective 11th days after the first recorded death. For the alarmists, this is wonderful news, because it validates their predictions of doom. For practical people, they see a specific region like NY representing 40% of all US deaths as a target for emergency resources & scaling.

I’ve only known two people that had lupus (that i’m aware of), and one of them died from it. That may have skewed my impression of the seriousness of it.
