I believe it...

... and actually... There were a few times I could have used an extra set of hands. None of my kids seem all that interested in learning anything about mechanics.

I don’t have a lift, so I had to literally bench-press that tranny into the car and use my body to hold it there while getting a couple of bolts started in the front and a 1x4 to hold up the tail-shaft...

If you don’t have the shop to do it right, ingenuity and brute force kinda have to make due.

Come to think of it... Not sure I could do that again. I’m a few years older now and I tore my left biceps last year... Had it repaired, but it’ll never be 100%...

Never really thought of bears as being all that weird.

Unless you shave one down...

Then they are the stuff of nightmares.

...I will wish you “sweat dreams” instead...

Yes, night sweats. Very common with CFIDS, and they're not fun.

Why they call it that, I have no clue. But it’s to help manage pain. With or without drugs. In this case, the drugs allow me to do limited amounts of my own housework for the first time in a lot of years. So the “pain” clinic is a good thing!

Made it to Walmart and back, and they were doing inventory. The store was closed for six hours and I don’t know why they had to start it at 0600, when the old folks come in. By the time I got to the check-out lane the entry was filled with three people, so had to go the full length of the row in order to come at it from the other way.

On the way home, a car pulled out in front of me, evidently not realizing how close I was in the dark, and because it’s a hilly two-lane road, I was with him/her to the stop sign which is where I turn to come home. In between him turning in front of me, and my right-hand turn, there were several hills. I try to get a running start on them downhill so I don’t have to make the engine work so hard before I get to the crest. He hit the brakes going down. Both hills. The second one is the longest, so of course, I didn’t make it nearly as far this time. Still, I got home OK.

While I was waiting for Walmart to open, I watched the headlights of the cars across the valley, climbing up that steep grade to the cut-off into St George and thought how easy they made it look!

Consolation? No steep hills where I’m going... ;o]

Yes, my Real Brother (who learned he was a “love child” on his 80th birthday) and my daughter both (25 miles from each other) have commented on the weirdness of the place referring to Boulder as “25 square miles surrounded by sanity.” Whatever that means. Real Brother seems to think the place is a haven for communists, and he may be right.

I DID get to make it to Pikes Peak and even got a T-shirt!

Some really good memories are attached to cars and NHRA races. There’s a lot to be said for being the Pit Crew and being able to help under the hood. My hands are small which made it easy to get into places that larger hands didn’t have room to.

Doing the IT thing, and still playing a viola on occasion, I have retained a good amount of dexterity in the joints betwixt my various phalanges as I continue to mark off the decades.

Despite also being a shade-tree mechanic, DYI home dude, and a weight lifter...

A bit like the hippo ballerina from the old cartoons.

“Cheated Death Again,” as we say around here. Speaking of which, I should plan a Driving Adventure.

LOL!

Yes, I crochet, knit and type, which keep my fingers fairly nimble, but some days, the stiffness is beyond my abilities to overcome. Then it’s like trying to manipulate a bunch of Teletubbies at the ends of my wrists.

Yeah, time and money, right?

But, hey, at least there’s reason to go through it with a leaf blower and throw a fresh tarp over it before the weather shuts down the outdoor shop.

I should have thought of that when I muttered, “Oh, crikey!” for the first time. Now I can use that for an expletive when I get frustrated behind the wheel!

And now, for whatever reason, I’m very tired. I was going to try and clean out the coat closet this morning, but it may be the one that got away. And maybe a two-day interval is more realistic than the one day I’ve previously used. Age and CFIDS, I guess. :o|
