A kid who licked toilets as part of the #CoronaVirusChallenge says he's now in the hospital with coronavirus. @gayshawnmendes was also just suspended from twitter
I love the smell of high-octane and burning rubber, the sound of BIG engines revving and watching the speed...
Sorry, kiddos, but I’ve been up since midnight and I’m feeling it. I need to pack it in for one more day.
Seeya! Good luck on the sleep!
Agreed, however... having a large number of them only leaves you feeling like you just need to stop and pick one just to get anything done.
Seems odd to wish someone a “Good Night” at 3PM CST...
So... I will wish you “sweat dreams” instead... Ciao..
What's that, some sort of training camp for dentists and CIA interrogators?
That’s true.
What is it about your pony car that’s giving you grief?
Time and a lack of ducats... In my shade-tree career... I have rebuilt 2 Hurst 4-speeds and a TH-350... Surprisingly, they all worked... So... I figured a TH-400 wouldn’t be any more difficult. It wasn’t... Until I put it in the car and tried to drive it...
It shifts, HARD, and runs a treat... But... On every shift it squirts about a cup of tranny fluid from a port on the side of the case... No idea what I screwed up, but I never got back to it.
It’s been sitting long enough that the tarp I had covering it has rotted away, the half-tank of gas has gone not just bad but truly Evil, and a colony of mice have taken up residence and are doing a nightly parody of the movie Ratatouille...
Which is sad as the rebuilt 350 V8 under the hood has about 4 hours of run time since the rebuild... About two miles of which is actual drive time. There’s very little still stock about the motor... Pretty much just the block, and even that was bored .020” over as part of the rebuild. Pistons, rings, bearings, heads, crankshaft and caps, oil pump, water pump, cam and lifters, ignition system, exhaust... All after market or hi-po toys...
10” TCI “Street Fighter” torque convertor for it... Custom cut and balanced racing drive shaft... B&M racing rebuild kit went into the aforementioned leaking TH400...
Was going to go with an air-locker rear diff on it, but gave up on the whole thing when the tranny debacle happened...
It sounds impressive, until you see the dirty, smelly, rusting project sitting next to my back shed... Then, it’s just kinda depressing.
LOTTA talk about squirting TH-400’s.
Seems related to post build fluid levels, some hocus-pocus with the elevation and cant of the filter/pick-up, and a vent port on top on the passenger side with a tube sick into it.
Here’s some typical discussion:

Sorry your project is in such dire condition, but the running gear is good underneath it all.
Well, see, I’m up at 0200, so if I get up two hours earlier, then that makes for a long day when my stamina is at a premium.
I slept nine hours, but I’ve been trying to organize my packing and doing more things in any given day than I should, not to mention that insomnia has been plaguing me since my trip to CO in late June. Which makes no sense because I didn’t change time zones!
Anyway, I’m at my best in these early hours! :o])
Believe it or not, guys, but I understood every. single. word. and could have been right there working with you every minute of the way. Car engines I understand far better than electronics, but only because I’ve known them longer.
Good morning. Car engines are not my thing. I like it when they turn on, though!
Hmmm...Wat is dis? Is dis good to eat?
Good morning.
I need to sort my pills, but here I sit. I found another missive from the USPS about the Lost Books so I will take some time this morning and try to get some definitive information from my niece, and see if SOME of the books can be returned. The fact that the USPS is still in contact is a good thing, I think.
Now, I think I need to sort the pills and fix my tea because Walmart is looming in my mind. Today is the day I can go early enough to feel almost normal, but I wish they would open at least one hour earlier.
I’m taking the old road home these days because I just don’t want to push that little truck up that long grade any more. Which is why I hate going into St George. There is a longer, steeper grade just before the cut off to the old road, and if I have to stop at the light at the foot of it, I have to push the truck up in 3rd or 4th gear, and I really hate putting that much stress on the old engine.
Yes, and in another life, I would have been a mechanic.
And I love it when the old engine in my truck comes to life! It means freedom, basically. Independence. I’m not willing to give that up just yet!
Could be worse: it could be Patrick driving!
Good luck at Walmart. I’m feeling kind of beat up today, and I don’t know why. Nothing has happened.
OK. I think it’s actually Tuesday. I’m not gonna make THAT mistake again.
Happy Tuesday.
It is Tuesday. It is Trash Day!
It is not getting the email from my bank because yesterday was a Federal holiday.
It’ll probably be next spring before I get another chance to work on this thing...
I’d tried looking for forum/tech help posts like that, and didn’t really find much of anything... Thank you for that.
It’s good to have hope for a project I was ready to write-off... ;-)
