Senate leaders and the Trump administration appeared closer to reaching bipartisan agreement Monday evening on a massive stimulus bill that could inject $2 trillion into the economy to blunt the impacts of the coronavirus.
After a day of partisan rancor and posturing on Capitol Hill, the outlook grew markedly more positive later in the afternoon, when offers and counteroffers were exchanged.
Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) convened Democrats on a conference call and told them he was hopeful about striking a deal by the end of the day, according to a person familiar with the call who spoke on the condition of anonymity to reveal details.
Schumer was very upbeat, according to another Democrat, who listened into the call and spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe it. Some senators encouraged Schumer to announce a deal in principle Monday evening, but several issues remained unresolved, so that appeared unlikely.
And at the White House, President Trump told reporters that a deal was near.
“They have to get together and just stop with the partisan politics, and I think that’s happening,” Trump said. “I got a call a little while ago, I guess they are getting closer. It should go quickly and it must go quickly. It’s not really a choice. They don’t have a choice. They have to make a deal.”

Sounds like Senate dems are about to fold.
Their position was untenable.

I would not be surprised if these two were getting an earful of sh!t from the governors of their respective states.
Opportunistic Dems are no different from price gougers and profiteers, taking advantage of a crisis to obtain something they can’t get honestly.
I think they may have learned a little something from Trump.
Nancy waltzed in there with her own, out of this world bill and now they’re able to negotiate on McConnell’s bill and get a little bit.
Better not cave to that garbage. If a topic does not have a 30-60 impact on the economy it should not included.

The Rats will probably still get a lot of what they want. What the President should do is say that we’re going back to work in 10 days and a check will be given to every American that was forced to stay home and businesses get no interest loans. Or no signature.
Maybe the Repubics should demand a CLEAN BILL like Cryin’ Chuck does ALL THE TIME.
But now Cryin’ Chuck wants a dirty as f*** bill.
Of course it is time to fold — nasty Dems have reached their goal of a DOW down to what it was in 2016 when Trump came in to office.

Funny, I got the opposite impression. Schumer as reportedly upbeat and Trump seems to want a deal, any deal. It's a case where I hope I'm wrong.

Why stop at $2 trillion? I mean, as long as you’re just going to print money, why not make it enough to give everyone $1 million each? That’d be about $340 trillion. We’ll all be rich!
