Flubros stay strong. People will attack us for saying this is an overblown and overhyped flu. We will be proven right in the end. A global economic depression will cost more lives than this social distancing will save.
All of the current statistics are relatively meaningless, IMO.
The short amount of time that testing has occurred does not represent reality, IMO.
There could be millions in this country (or any other) who have not been tested yet have been infected. There could be few. At this point in time, we really don’t have all the facts.
Start testing tens of thousands randomly in all areas of the country and then you can start to get a clearer picture of the true impact of this virus in the U.S.
I’m just of the opinion that it will be several months before we have a more reliable set of statistics.
Cul-de-sac neighbor is an RN at the local hospital
(Gwinnett County, Georgia ... 30 miles NE from Atlanta)
Hospital is half empty ... people choosing to not have elective surgery.
Hospital staff anxious/nervous ... don’t know what to expect.
They have 3 or 4 flu patients and zero corona virus patients.
The Mrs. and I did not go out today mainly because it rained a bit.
We will probably go out tomorrow to eat mexican and
gather intel on the panic at the grocery store.
Thats my point...many people who are hospitalized by the Wuhan flu are fine. They are hospitalized because of paranoia. Stick with death numbers for a better gauge of the impact of this.
Im out there working. Im essential.
I regard covid as a serious virus. I just believe we have serious viruses come and go. Many suffer and many die. Its not ok but destroying everyones livelihood over it is not helping.
If we dont work we dont have the money to combat illnesses and injuries anyway. We are just broke.
Spot on.
This so-called pandemic is very conveniently timed, dont you think?
Im not saying that the frail and sickly arent having problems, but the average person doesnt have to live in fear. Im living my normal life with no thought of the cornyvirus.
Its insane that the elites and the fearpers are willing to destroy a previously strong economy, just because of a little bug. Insanity.
The fearpers keep screaming But, But ITALY!!! Every rational person knows why Italy is being hit so hard. We are not Italy.
Lets reopen all businesses and schools and get back to normal.
This irrational panic must stop.
I have a garbage church near me that Ive talked about before. On their outdoor sign, they have compared illegal aliens to Jesus, have compared Jesus to Saddam Hussein (I still dont get that one) and have a current message that reads, In times of emergency, we turn to socialismnot capitalism. I love a church that thinks that pissing passersby off is the way.
What percentage of those 650k will be hospitalized? I ask because ...
The CDC says that between Oct. 1, 2019 and Feb. 1, 2020 between 22,000 and 55,000 Americans died of seasonal influenza.
That is in a 123 day period.
Take the low figure: 22,000/123 = 179 people dying each day.
Take the high figure: 55,000/123 = 447 people dying each day.
High figure or low, why didn't that number of critical patients overwhelm the health care system? Those numbers don't even take into account the number of patients who would have been in critical condition but recovered.
Do they just not bother to hospitalize people who are dying from influenza? Is that it?
You are in! Secret handshake will be revealed to you at an undisclosed time and location.
More than you would suspect
If I knew how to make a ping list I would do one...or encourage a volunteer to make one.
DAng you are quick. I will take social distances and return where I belong. Flubro one fungi!
But resist we much. We must and we will much about that be committed. - Al Sharpton
Put their names in a Word document separated by semicolons.
When you want to ping the members of your list, copy the list from the Word document and paste it into the "To:" box. Put your message in the "Your Reply:" box. Preview and send.
Look at South Korea on Worldometer for a more accurate death rate...they test a lot of people there so you can see just how many are asymptomatic.
You are so full of shit it staggers the human mind.
With all respect, why do you suppose that the President, Governors, et al. are taking all of these precautions and actions over a ‘little bug’?
addendum:
Wife and I went to Lowe’s (big box hardware) yesterday.
Needed to get some wall paint, a couple of electrical things,
she got some spring flowers, I got some tomato plants.
Store was really crowded ... saw 3 people with masks on.
Got some hot dogs from Sonic curbside.
Movie theater looked closed.
Fast Food places were all drive-thru only.
None of this is government mandated (yet)...
It is individual business decisions.
Take YOUR high figure. 447 people a day. 50 states. Less than 10 people / day per state...
But the other thing is, the average hospital stay with severecoronavirus (if you live!) is three weeks.
What is the average length of a hospital stay for someone with flu?
You sure are ignorant.
*snerk*.
