Yes, when I see the specs for the masks/gloves/disinfectants required for this, I realize my prepper gear was sorely lacking. I’ve been sorting those wipes with 70%+ alcohol content from the weaker ones, which are ineffective here.
Agreed! A Walmart assistant manager recently told a department manager that “they” didn’t want employees wearing gloves, because the gloves were panicking customers. You can be sure that those stuffy stores are laden with SARS-CoV-2.
So if you really must go in those places, wear the gloves. And wear masks. Make your own. They are far better than nothing, *if you use them correctly,* and much better than re-using a contaminated N-95. Besides, homemade masks will be all the fashion rage. :) See thread below the post for instructions.

The masks won’t stop all of the virus, by the way. The object is to stop tiny moisture droplets that carry the virus, and the effort is to reduce the viral load, that is, the amount of the virus that gets in. Masks, properly worn and changed out for clean ones often enough, can also greatly reduce the distance that those particles go from the breath of an infected wearer.

You’re exactly right. N95 and N100 masks will stop 95% and 99.7% respectively, particulates that are .3 microns or larger. The COVID-19 virus is .125 microns in size.
Nitrile gloves are something you should always have around the house, even in normal times. They are great when painting, cleaning, working with solvents, lubricants, etc. You should always have some in the car in case you should have to change a tire.
Be aware, though, when you wear the gloves it can sometimes be difficult to use touch screens.

That is ok though, got 3 boxes of xlarge and 3 small for wife unit. We raise chicks so we use them for handling the chicks.
Why would that be a problem?
Because there’s a risk that cleaning will degrade the glove.
Also a risk that washing won’t remove everything.
Old bras work great.....
And always immediately wash your hands after removing the gloves. Or, if handwashing isn’t possible, use hand sanitizer. Contamination during glove removal is common.
They are always in my garage and kitchen, stored in my hunting gear {been using them for years for gutting and then butchering deer}.
