Its all-out class warfare in the Hamptons.
The year-round residents, the locals who serve and clean and landscape for the super-rich in the summertime and put up with all manner of entitlement and terrible behavior in exchange for good money are silent no more.
Theres not a vegetable to be found in this town right now, says one resident of Springs, a working-class pocket of East Hampton. Its these elitist people who think they dont have to follow the rules.
Its not just the drastic food shortage out here. Every aspect of life, most crucially medical care, is under strain from the sudden influx of rich Manhattanites panic-fleeing, bringing along their disdain and disregard for the little people and in some cases, knowingly bringing coronavirus.
The Springs resident says her friend, a nurse out here, reported that a wealthy Manhattan woman who tested positive called tiny Southampton Hospital to say she was on her way and needed treatment.
The woman was told to stay in Manhattan.
Instead, she allegedly got on public transportation, telling no one of her condition. Then she showed up at Southampton Hospital, demanding admittance.
Someone else took a private jet to East Hampton and did not tell anybody til he landed, the resident says. Thats the most horrendous aspect. The virus is already here, and we dont have any medical resources.
Were at the end of Long Island, the tip, and waves of people are bringing this st, says lifelong Montauker James Katsipis. We should blow up the bridges. Dont let them in.

Effetists
Public name recognition and/or a big pile of money only mean public name recognition and a big pile of money.
Dust in the wind compared to the truly elite who are esteemed as such by dint of character or tangible accomplishment.
effete
adj. > Characterized by extreme refinement or self-indulgence, often to the point of unworldiness or decadence
adj.> Having or reflecting an attitude of social superiority; pretentious or snobbish.

There are no ‘elites’. There are people who have money, and people who have fame, but none of those things makes them ‘elite’. Would anyone here want to be Alec Baldwin? How much would you be willing to pay to NOT be Alec Baldwin? Would anyone here want to be Bill Clinton? Hillary? Matt Lauer? Anderson Cooper?
What we do with our lives in terms of personal growth as human beings, our growth in understanding who and what we are, our spirituality, and what we give to others defines us - not how many square feet our home is, or whether we have a helicopter.
I didn’t see your comments until after I wrote mine, but you are spot on.
‘Were at the end of Long Island, the tip, and waves of people are bringing this st, says lifelong Montauker James Katsipis. We should blow up the bridges. Dont let them in.’
Let them do it and when the virus hits them full force and they ask for aid tell them “Sorry, with all the bridges down we just can’t get there”.
One reason the ‘elites’ are so dangerous is they ARE the people who traveled the world - including China AND they love large fawning events. If the virus had started 3 months earlier than it did Davos would have been wiped out.
Catapult a couple of life-like dummies into the area and watch em scatter like chickens!!
And yours, FRiend, is a better delineation of the issue than my terse attempt.
Well done.
Heh.
Well said. Lesson learned.
(thanks)
Why not? I mean, governors are blowing up their economies left and right.
I’d suggest another possible description, “Oligarchs.”
They are virtually the same as the despicable oligarchs that brought down the city states in Greece and the oligarchs that are demonized now as the true rulers of Russia.
And if the histories are correct, the oligarchs of Greece, at least, were both elite and effete.
They liked that short commute to the city.
The trains and roads go in both directions.
Yeah a good road block might be the answer.
LOL...lighten up, Franny.
;-)
I’m surprised the trains haven’t been shut down, yet.
A lot of rich folks bugging out to Jackson Hole, Wyo.
From the Merriam-Webster definition of ‘elite’:
d: a group of persons who by virtue of position or education exercise much power or influence
members of the ruling elite
