Christmas is more than two months past, but social media users are digging their lights and decorations back out (or plugging them back in) as a sign of hope during the coronavirus outbreak.
As people across the country are working from home or are under quarantine or lock-down, many have taken to Twitter to share photos of their Christmas lights and to ask others to jump on the bandwagon.
One user wrote: Christmas lights give me hope and joy. Every year, I look forward to seeing them put up. As a sign of hope and happiness, weve put some up. While were all having to stay in and away from each other, I thought these would help us all have something joyous and pretty to look at.

Geesh, so stupid I cannot stand it.
Actually I think it’s an excellent idea. Christmas lights do bring peace to the heart and mind. I love to see them go up every December. This may not be such a bad idea and may get people to calm down.
Everyone drag out your Nativity scenes.
In Georgia, most people do not ever take off the Christmas lights from the house.
Whatever get you through the night.
All the lazy asses who didn’t take them down say #metoo
Our neighbors across the street got a HUGE jump on this...they never took theirs down.
How about we pull the yellow ribbons out of storage instead? They won’t ruin the nice dark evenings.
OK so my next door neighbor.... they are not exactly on top of things, often. They do not put Christmas lights outside. But their stair banister in the front hall, still holding the fake greens swags and lights from Christmas. They might still have the Christmas tree up; I haven’t nosed around that much, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
I hate to admit it, but mine are still up. Maybe we’ll turn them on again ;-)

Look everybody should just listen to our great President calm down for like ge said about 15 days
and then will reassess the situation its very possible they were already on the other side of the curve at that point and its all over
Bump!
The one year I actually take them down on time, of course. Too much work to put them back up - I need me one of them laser light things, that’ll bring people peace, joy and a sense of hope for humanity.
I feel like putting my lights back up just to aggravate my HOA. I like to push their buttons.
I have a fake tabletop woodland decorated tree I didn’t put away for this reason. Been concerned since January.
I get that from watching Ferris Bueller's Day Off. ;)
Why? Its a cheap and easy way of saying the show will go on (which it will).
This is the second year that I didnt take mine down. The outdoor lights cheer me up at night all winter long. I just unplugged them at daylights saving time change. Im not sure Ill turn them back on though, Im not super sad now that it stays light longer.
Nah, if I want to feel a bit better, I’ll just pick up my guitar for a while. Works like a charm. :)
I like it. Something simple and attractive to the eye.
It’s harmless and not expensive.
Something uplifting for the spirit. If you don’t want to do it, then don’t do it. Same as during the Season.
We are charting unknown territories right now.
It is likely the virus will burn itself out by June, and take a few thousand lives with it. But no one knows for sure.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!
