Beaches in Florida are finally closing due to coronavirus concerns after local governments took action. Local officials in Clearwater Beach, which appeared earlier this week packed with visitors, voted to close by Monday. Beaches in Naples and in other communities in southwest Florida also were being closed. Meanwhile, new images show wild spring breakers continuing to party on the sand in Miami, despite South Beach's closings there as well, in response to the deadly, flu-like virus, also known as COVID-19.

Never underestimate the stupidity of a college student on spring break. Yup, been there, but thankfully never quite demonstrated the idiocy of the current crop of clowns.

I live in SW Florida...the beach is the only place left to go...there is plenty of room and you can walk forever...
Spring breakers are extreme cases...
It is one place kids can go...no sports are up and running..
Grand parents can take there grand kids there and be outside...because they stuck taking care of them...
If they have money for spring break perhaps tuition needs to be raised another notch. I was a student a long time ago and I had to graduate and work for three years before I got to take a vacation - and having earned it, I never blew my money that way.

I paid my own way and had scholarships. Never could afford ‘spring break’. Didn’t have a quarter million in loans either. Think I’d have waited to ‘vacation’ until AFTER I had a real job.

Absolutely. Let them all hang together somewhere and not re-enter their hometowns and families. It’s just infuriating to see the degree of hubris these bratty kids display. More importantly, WHY were these beaches left open in the first place knowing they were going to hold their annual orgies. Where are the parents, what was DeSantis thinking??? Unbelievable.

Went to spring break once back in the 70s, 45 years later remember more fun stories from that week in Mexico than I do of 3 years in college.
The spring breakers will be humbled, as will every other clown and FluBro, as this virus really starts to play out. We’re just starting the second inning now.
...On the other hand ... they somehow, intentionally or not, have retained some of the American fighting spirit, don’t tread on me, live free or die.
This morning I read yet another news article with all sorts of health agencies’ data on the difference between Wuhan virus and the current seasonal flu, the symptoms, the outcomes, etc. It begs the question - why is Wuhan causing a country/global shutdown if it is like the seasonal flu? What does the government and health agencies know about Wuhan that has not been disclosed that requires such significant, unprecedented government action at federal, state and local levels? While I am concerned about a pandemic, there seems a disconnect between the info in the public and the current measures being taken which in turn has caused a lot of spooking of the “cow herd” (public).

This is going to end the careers and ruin the reputations of many politicians, but it’s a self-inflicted wound. Being known for having increased the suffering of, and causing the deaths of, American citizens will take the glow off their legacy.
