Grace Fusco — mother of 11, grandmother of 27 — would sit in the same pew at church each Sunday, surrounded by nearly a dozen members of her sprawling Italian-American family. Sunday dinners drew an even larger crowd to her home in central New Jersey.
Now, her close-knit clan is united anew by unspeakable grief: Mrs. Fusco, 73, died on Wednesday night after contracting the coronavirus — hours after her son died from the virus and five days after her daughter’s death, a relative said.
Four other children who contracted coronavirus remain hospitalized, three of them in critical condition, the relative, Roseann Paradiso Fodera, said.

Ya, me either.
I’m not a boomer.
We pay taxes, a mortgage, car tag, etc.
Killing middle aged people puts holes in the community.
Making us sick enough for the ICU and a million dollar bill is awful too.
It’s the either or virus.
You either get it and sniffle a day or two.
Or, it tries to kill you and you spend weeks in the hospital.
I wouldn’t mind getting it if I could be assured of being in the first group.
There’s no way we’d ever pay off a million dollar ICU bill.

I’m of Italian descent....both sides of my family. My mother’s side has many people in their 90’s or even past 100.
I have a lot of relatives in the New York area, and no one is sick. I don’t know what caused this disaster to happen to this poor New Jersey family.
In regards to Italy, many leather goods and textile companies in northern Italy were sold to Chinese interests, with hundreds of thousands of Chinese working in Italy.
Many of them are from Wuhan, and returned there for Chinese New Year, and then flew back to Italy. Plus, Italy has an aging population, and many people live in apartment houses. We should not be surprised by what happened....saddened, but not surprised.
Unfortunately I’ve become so jaundiced on the news that I think there’s a good chance that this story is completely made up. Factually it wouldn’t be the first time.
That would be most of America.
If an infected person touched the 6 pack just before you bought it, you’re probably bringing the infection home even if you wore gloves/used hand sanitizer when you came out of the store.
Back then we just put the sick on open beds in large rooms.
Now we put the sick in ICU rooms with respirators.
We just don’t have that many ICU rooms hence the need to moderate the number of new cases.

Yes this is a tragedy...no doubt! Equally tragic are the 45,000 who’ve died from Influenza in the United State since October that many of you people won’t even acknowledge!

I can’t figure some of you people out! You feel that 8,938 COVID-19 deaths worldwide merits shutting down our entire economy, but 45,000 U.S. deaths from Influenza (Many infants and children!) doesn’t make you bat an eye!

Probably somebody in the family visited Italy.
My dad’s Italian neighbors live forever, especially the women. One passed away last year at 107. For her last 10 years, she lived on a hard boiled egg in the morning and then cookies the rest of the day.
I am also of Italian decent from NJ relocated many years ago to CA. going to be relocating again very soon can’t wait to get the hell out of CA. State has gone way past the point of no return!!

My grandfather lived to be 104 drank like a fish and smoked cigars his whole life!!! Italian to the core!! OMG my grandmas house had food out constantly she NEVER stopped cooking I don’t know how she did t at 80 years old but she did!!!

They never deal with this directly! They always provide their typical BS that “Well, a higher percentage die from COVID-19 than Influenza, and it’s much more contagious!” But, just like the Fake News, they won’t touch the actual number of deaths with a ten-foot pole because it totally destroys their narrative! If this thing were as deadly as they say, why only 8,900 deaths worldwide?
They also will NOT, in any meaningful way, discuss the fact that most people recover from this! Whenever this is pointed out, they produce some story about those who’ve had it “MAY” face serious health issues in the future! Sad we have FReepers who sound like DUmmies warning us about Globull Warming!

Because the transmission rates of coronavirus is way, way more than influenza, because the death rate is higher and because, unlike influenza, there is no cure for it yet
