Since isolation is the new theme for the indefinite future, how about listing your favorite solitude, alone or loneliness songs.
Johnny Cash
Sunday Morning Coming Down

Any country song?
Yep. First to come to my mind was Help Me Make It Through the Night and Sunday Morning Coming Down
I’ve done the same thing, until I found your comment.
...Dock of the Bay was the first song that came to mind relative to the term solitude.
How about: Over the Mountains...or: A Thousand Miles Away
Very clean guitar.
Mr. Lonely--The Videls (1960)
Counting flowers on the wall - Statler Bros.
That's life,
Some are doing too well,
The other goes wrong;
Sometimes you lose heart.
But what you didn't find today,
Tomorrow maybe it's here,
And I don't have to ask anymore,
When does happiness come to me?
I walk the streets at night
For hours without a goal,
Could hate the whole world
Because I feel abandoned.
The bar is small and smoky,
Where I buy a round
Just to ask everyone,
When does happiness come to me?
Alone--The Shepherd Sisters (1957)
You and Me Against The World.
What about Bobby Goldsboro’s “Honey”.. I think the record came with an overdose size of sleeping pills
There was a truck driver singer back in the 60-70’s timeframe that had to be the Grim Reaper on wheels. I can’t remember his name. One of his songs was about a teddy bear or a kid named Teddy, or something.
Mahalia Jackson— You’ll Never Walk Alone
Laura Nyro — Lonely Women (with Zoot Sims on tenor sax)
Here are some other songs, some of which are "lonesome" songs, and some which could be called "pre-lonesome" songs, but they're all pretty sad. I've posted some of them before on other threads, but I thought they would fit in pretty well with the general mood of this thread too.
"Crying Time" - Ray Charles "Red River Valley" - Stevie Nicks & Chris Isaak "Blue Side Of Lonesome" - Jim Reeves "It Makes No Difference Now" - Gene Autry "Am I That Easy To Forget" - Engelbert Humperdinck "There Goes My Everything" - Engelbert Humperdinck "Tennessee Waltz" - Patti Page "I Can't Stop Loving You" - Ray Charles "He Stopped Loving Her Today" - George Jones "Detroit City" - Bobby Bare "Blues Stay Away From Me" - Charlie McCoy "Beyond the Sunset/Should You Go First and I Remain" - Gaithers |
