It seems WHO has been hiding the past 2 weeks and letting the CDC be the fall guy.

Pictures of the USNS Comfort in NY Harbor are going to be pretty compelling. Gut wrenching.

She can take the two weeks off without losing her job since she’s a full time employee and we can afford it but if they extend it, that would hurt. We’re a one income family right now. Family of four on $1200/mth. We’re frugal to say the least. I’m set up to start making money from home this year but not if we drain our bank account self quarantining. Between the two of us, we have a combined work history of 45+ years and neither of us has ever collected unemployment so I think it’s time to lean on the system for a change, whenever the system will allow it.

Has anyone seen anything on whether it is possible to disinfect a N95 mask and re-use it?

I have, of all things, a small supply of carbon tetrachloride that my Dad gave me before it’s sale was pretty much banned. I’d think the fumes from that stuff would kill most anything... But would they degrade some material in the mask?

Alternately, does brief soaking in 70% rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide disintegrate or degrade a N95 mask?

Other ideas? Please cite reliable sources.

Thanks!

I’ve got an N95 dust mask and I soaked it in some purple degreaser and hands washed/swished it and it held up fine so it would have held up fine to Lysol too.

Perhaps the answer is to select groups of healthy people to become infected on purpose.

Since the problem seems to be that not enough people are getting infected and developing immunity.

I’m impressed with the low fatality rate. Could it be the Type S (milder) or do Germanic people simply have better resistance?

Note to self: get plenty of sausage and beer on my next shopping trip. :-D

You go first... Ha Ha.

The part of about the lock downs is to slow down the spread so that we can treat everyone.

I think the nasty little secret is that as we let people out of their quarantine, they will get sick as well. But the hospitals will be able to help them.

I’ve stopped trying to predict anything. Right now I am simply keeping my wife and dog safe.

Just another reason that the statewide shutdowns are premature (except for the skrewels — kids can spread it like wildfire).

I recall hearing about many false tests in the early days in China.

Something like, False, False, Positive, False, False....

It was one of the reasons the numbers were so tough to pin down.

Oh, just don’t tell them they’re volunteering. Why get people upset.

These Cuomo press conferences are brutal and nonsensical. Does he really have to run to the cameras every day to say what we already know and pass along stories about his Mutha and Fatha?

Total snake eyes for Nevada’s labor force. Another premature mistake, unless it’s limited to Clark County. Why punish Carson City because of drunk, infected gamblers, right?
