Dr Simran Deo at Zava UK suggests that wearing gloves could actually increase your risk of catching coronavirus as droplets projected into the air by coughing or sneezing can stay on the surface
Coronavirus cases in the UK have surpassed 380 this week, leading to widespread panic about the spread of the disease.
Many worried Brits have taken to wearing gloves while out and about, in the hopes of protecting themselves from the virus.
However, experts have warned against this practice, and suggest that wearing gloves could actually increase your risk of catching the virus.
Dr Simran Deo at UK-based online doctor at Zava UK explained: Conditions similar to coronavirus are spread through coughing and sneezing, which produce water or mucus droplets containing the virus.
These droplets are projected into the air by coughing or sneezing and this causes a spread of the infection when they come into contact with others.

I disagree with what this person is saying.
Yeah, whereas if the droplets projected into the air land on your hands, they'll vanish like fairy dust.
Cloth gloves that go straight into the laundry would seem to make sense too.
Exactly.
I use gloves that I take off and toss in the wash with soap and bleach to use when I’m in the car.
When I get home, I still wash my hands and dont touch my face.
But this moron needs to sound like he has some big insight, so let’s tell people gloves will make it “worse”. Frigging idiot.
I carry on as usual with hands conducting transactions, errands etc...after I’m all done I wipe down hands steering wheel door knobs with an alcohol soaked paper towel.
Of course I haven’t been out in a week...planting lilly bulbs and weeding gardens. Quite busy!
Michael Jackson split the difference.
When done with the task at hand, remove the gloves, wash hands and arms. If you are concerned about germs on the surface of any products brought home - wipe them down (bleach, alcohol, peroxide...)
Bleach cleaners are out of stock, but toilet tank tablets and pool shock tablets are a nice hypochlorite source.
Sure, only medical professionals are qualified to wear gloves (don’t try this on your own kids).
Be safe and just cut your hands off at the wrist.
Is that what the CDC is recommending?
The article should have been more specific. I assume that they are talking about rubber gloves. It would seem that fabric gloves would offer protection on dry surfaces that other people have been touching without some of the disadvantages of rubber gloves. Obviously the gloves themselves could hold some of the germs, but the amount that one would likely get from handling the gloves later would likely be miniscule compared to touching the surface or someone’s hands directly. And the gloves can be carefully removed and washed. This is one of the reasons women especially wore fabric gloves in public in earlier times.
Mailboxes and garbage cans are highly likely to get infected because if one is infected the next hundred a mailman/binman touches will also get infected.
I fetch my mail with my right hand and open my front door with my left hand.
The mail gets placed on the floor without leafing through it.
There is nothing you can do and everything you do just makes it worse....
Thnx doc...
Dittoes ... Which is better, to get the ‘droplets’ on your skin or on vinyl gloves?
I would eschew any medical advice coming from the UK, given that their national strategy appears to be “just let it happen”.

The ratio for Bleach solution needed for this virus is 1::50 that's 1 part bleach 49 parts water. But most Freepers probably know that last part.
Gloves are just like a new layer of skin. Don’t put fingers in your mouth, gloves or no gloves.
Many people have lots of socks.
I looked for cheap disposable gloves but didn’t find any in any store.
The UK is telling the vulnerable to self-isolate.
The Brits likely to get mild cold symptoms at worse can carry on.
