Before you look up my account and call me a noob I have been here since Clinton was President, just under a different user name. I haven't posted in a week or so, I've just been reading and lurking. It has really been an awakening recently to say the least.
I am surprised and maybe even a little shocked by my fellow Freepers. I really kind of thought we were all kind-of like minded (ya, I know, conservatives).
We have the "FluBro's" who are in total denial of what is happening world-wide. It reminds me of the other party and their inability to see and or face the truth and I am just so surprised by that. They are the exact kind of people Italy is warning us about in a new article today. In the fact, the entire nation of Italy scoffed and laughed it off, now they warning us not be like them. I think there are too many in this country like that however, I just spoke to a real estate person in Gulf Shores who said the place was booming, as grandparents/parents were taking their kids down for vacations since school was cancelled. Not a clue.
We have the folks supporting the guys from Tennessee who drove around the country and bought up all of the supplies that people would want to protect themselves from the virus only to list those products on Amazon at outrageous prices were completely justified in the name of free enterprise. Imagine being the type of person that sees a crisis and their plan is to exploit people for money during those times, and then to have other people support them?
We have those who say they will refuse to quarantine and won't be told what to do and want all kinds of places to remain open. It's like cantankerous old coots who are stuck in their ways and feel their freedom trumps everyone and everything around them, they owe their brother nothing. I'm embarrassed in part to be in the same boat as many on this forum. The constant arguing between those that know this is a serious situation and the FluBro's is tiresome.
That said, this is the best site for following the Coronavirus outbreak as people are local everywhere and sharing local news we wouldn't get anywhere else. I will continue to lurk for sure.
I hope everyone stays safe and pray this passes quickly, that as few as possible die, and the economy rebounds strongly, and we get back to living the American dream.

I’m not a FluBro, but this aint nothin yet. Most of this so far is driven by progressive politicians and the lying media, not that there is even a condom-thickness of distance between them.

Agreed. All of us hope we are over preparing and saving lives. This flattening the curve is about giving the medical services you all rely on more of a chance to function optimally. Simple as that. We need to all join together in this taking of precautions. It isn’t taking away freedom; it’s helping our least strong fellow humans. We will be ok.
Everyone has an opinion and is entitled to express it.
BUT, according to you, if one doesn’t agree with YOUR opinion they are ‘bad or wrong’.
We will all sit here and ‘marvel’ at how EVERY (well most) Supreme Court vote can be 5-4 or all the Rs on one side of an issue and all the Ds on the other OR vice versa.
Funny since you can hand all 9 of them a menu and it is doubtful that two orders will be EXACTLY the same, so we are supposed to assume that EVERY ‘opinion’, all guided by the same ‘rules’ can be one side or the other.
That gets to a much grander scale when it comes to the House etc, yet far too many votes are on party lines.
So, why would you expect to come here and have ALL fall in line with the same opinion.

Last Friday a local school district had already declared themselves closed and as I came through the County Seat, I observed 10 or 12 ‘teens’ walking the streets at 2PM, in shorts, no jackets, yesterday the same in my town and this AM there was frost.
So when everyone yesterday who was running around like it was 4 July comes down with a cold, will they call it the ‘virus’?
Also, since the GOVT closed down schools that means working parents will have to get baby sitters, often ‘retired’ grandparents or neighbors.
What do you imagine the result will be by putting the MOST vulnerable (at least by whoever is writing the rules) in direct contact with the supposed least vulnerable?
Also, as the ‘bounty’ rises for the treatment of ‘victims’, how many common colds will be diagnosed as ‘the virus’, in the name of ‘safety’?
Think of the ADH fiasco in the schools...when it was ‘discovered’ there were ‘few’ cases but the the Govt ‘stepped in’ and compensated the parents AND the schools, the incidents zoomed out of sight.

I have already stated I have a ‘shotgun type email’ in case of my demise - if during this period you may call the cause what you may - I will ‘apologize’ for my ‘casual handling’ of the ‘crisis’, BUT when I survive etc, will all you chicken little types be apologizing to ‘us’?
BTW, I am 80 and feel no different this AM then I have for the past ‘30’ AMs, but I do consider living at this age as much like the battlefield.
Every evening you get to lay down and catch some sleep and then wake up in the morning looking for the same results that day, is a VICTORY.
For the ‘doom and gloomers’, I had figured I would NEVER see 30, so I am not always ‘correct’ but I do stay RIGHT.

I think you are missing the daily, gradual way people are coming together here. We are praying for one another and supporting one another.
I’m a class of 98er too. A glitch made John reset me to 1999, but I was here throughout the Clinton impeachment. I’ve battled Bushbots and Rino fifth columnists and people who rooted for Democrats. But I’ve also had a damned fine time.
I take most of what goes on here with a grain of salt. I just know I’m grateful to be alive today, and very thankful to God.
So if I don’t think we’re all going to die unless we live out an Omega Man existence does that make me a FluBro?

Can you please tell us of the massive soap, detergent, or bleach hoarding these Tennessee guys performed? I haven’t heard before that they “bought up all the supplies that people would want to protect themselves.”

The economic impact of all this is going to be heavy and could well lead to recession. Now, these democrat politicians...mayors, governors etc ...with all their draconian over the top restrictions, closings, quarantines wouldn’t be so cynical as to hope this concerted effort will hurt Trump would they?
