I grew up in L. A. so I enjoyed the movie as reminders of my youth. Lots of stuff in that movie I did not realize was happening at the time.
I thought the ending was the best ending of any movie ever made. Other than that, I had trouble getting through it. But the acting was superb.
I only saw it once in the theater. I had mixed feelings about the Tarantino “Inglorious Bastards” style ending that changes history, but otherwise I thought it was an excellent movie and deserved the Oscar nominations that it received.
Burt Reynolds was supposed to play the Bruce Dern part but Bert died.
Probably one of the worst movies Ive ever seen. QT is an overrated no talent ass clown.
I enjoy watching great movies many times, once you know most every line is about enough, you pick up more every time and realize how good directors are. Highway Men, The Red Baron, Ford v Ferrari are recent examples Chinatown and the greatest of them all Dr Strangelove.
I’ve only seen it once, but I really liked it. I loved Brad Pitt’s character, and I laughed like a maniac all through the ending, especially when Leo gets the flame thrower, and his look of panic... It really was quite a movie.
Watching Hello Dear Ancestors on Iqiyi.
Time travel love story that ranges between Han Dynasty China and modern China.
Production values are top notch. Enjoying it hugely. Iqiyi is the Netflix of China,
Love it. Love QT’s use of music to set mood. Love the ending.
Good begining that slides into an ending almost as horrible as the horrific “The Hateful Eight”.
I’ve only seen maybe 3 or 4 of QT’s movies but this was by far my favorite of the ones I’ve seen. Would definitely watch it again in the right setting.
Weirdly enough I had never seen The Godfather. I was slightly underage when it came out though I wanted to watch it I was always seeing it on already on cable and didn’t want to see it partway through.
I didn’t even know it was set in the 40’s. Did a real nice job of fitting the time period in the film but then it was only 1972 so only 25 years difference. The only ‘out of time’ thing I saw, I think, was where they drove out to the grassy area to kill the guy who claimed he was ‘sick’ and there were very modern (70’s modern, LOL) metal guardrails set up with spacers etc that weren’t used like that in the 40’s.
Great movie! The ending was cathartic. Glad to hear it bears up under repeat viewing.
