An emergency room doctor at EvergreenHealth in Kirkland is in critical condition with COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

The hospital at the center of the coronavirus outbreak in King County confirmed that the doctor was ill Sunday afternoon.

“EvergreenHealth is providing care for one of our physicians who has a confirmed case of COVID-19. He is in critical condition but stable. Out of respect for our patient’s privacy and that of his family, there is nothing more we can share at this time,” says a brief statement issued by the hospital on Sunday.

Nope, we are just getting started and sadly it looks like it is hitting first responders FIRST.

Looks like if lungs are in excellent shape, the virus has a hard time taking foothold there because a healthy lung has active cilia which are constantly expelling unwanted stuff including germs & snots. Babies have cilia in excellent shape. Smokers destroy the cilia. Old age deteriorates cilia. And this covid-19 virus kills you by growing in lungs causing pneumonia which does not respond to anti-biotics.

That’s pretty much my view.

Today I’ve now seen one plot of the US and one of the UK, both showing exponential growth in the number of afflicted.

Should these plots continue exponential growth for a week or so, I’d say the plot is definitely afoot and I will truly hunker down.

China, Taiwan, South Korea & Singapore have put the pandemic into decline.

The West (including us) didn’t do what it takes & are still not doing what it takes.

We need to shut things down or millions will get it and things will shut down. This isn’t rocket science.

I'm hesitant to post one for the personnel in case I've got the wrong roster. But I'll post this one on the genetics...

Comparative genetic analysis of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV/SARS-CoV-2) receptor ACE2 in different populations

In India where there are more people than US and all of Europe & Iran combined, and worse sanitary conditions, there are very few covid-19 infections! Not many sick and dying from this virus.

This thing behaves so weird... in some it acts like a normal cold but in others it seems to take people down almost instantly.

Perhaps because the common cold itself is a form of corona virus.

"The physician, who is in his 40s,..."

But that's impossumle! It can't be! I won't believe it! I won't! I won't! [familyop, sitting on the floor, bouncing, crying and generally imitating one of the "It's like the flu" bros.]

“On one thread I read we are 11 (pessimistic) to 16 (optimistic) days behind Italy. The next two weeks will tell the tale.”

And Italy ain’t turned the corner yet.

The Indian government has a lot of control over people there and has been all over the coronavirus thing.

I believe in the case of the ER doctors it comes down to a higher viral load after being exposed to a significantly higher viral shed.

Perhaps stress and lack of sleep contributed.

he’s critical but stable. Make sure to always leave out the stable or anything that will make this virus sound much less potent than it is

After all that’s how propaganda works

That’s interesting...
When I was in my 30’s, worked in my backyard clearing foliage. Was never afflicted with poison ivy. Ended up with the worst case my dad (a physician), had ever seen ! Weeping lumps as big as a fist all over my body. He said it was overexposure. Now I’m highly susceptible.
