Guidance as of 3/15/2020
Large events and mass gatherings can contribute to the spread of COVID-19 in the United States via travelers who attend these events and introduce the virus to new communities. Examples of large events and mass gatherings include conferences, festivals, parades, concerts, sporting events, weddings, and other types of assemblies. These events can be planned not only by organizations and communities but also by individuals.
Therefore, CDC, in accordance with its guidance for large events and mass gatherings, recommends that for the next 8 weeks, organizers (whether groups or individuals) cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States.
Events of any size should only be continued if they can be carried out with adherence to guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations, hand hygiene, and social distancing. When feasible, organizers could modify events to be virtual.
This recommendation does not apply to the day to day operation of organizations such as schools, institutes of higher learning, or businesses. This recommendation is made in an attempt to reduce introduction of the virus into new communities and to slow the spread of infection in communities already affected by the virus. This recommendation is not intended to supersede the advice of local public health officials.
Good advice if we’re looking to decrease the severity of the hit from CV19, moreso over coming months.
Interestingly, they day it doesn’t apply to schools, institutes of higher learning and businesses. Good to know the virus knows the difference between a conference and an ordinary workday.
The flu numbers are just estimates. I am not kidding. They just make up numbers for that. Yes, there have been few deaths here from this new virus. I hope we keep it that way.
fortunately, they’re usually not in one place. Rather spread out, since it’s a big store.
We are talking about shutting down the U.S. economy because they said 68 people died of corona virus this year . But Americans 4000 died weekly for the flu that year 2018. So why shut the economy down since that will put people out of work, and cause more American and worldwide deaths? Does anyone realize what shutting down the economy as they are doing will cause to people’s ability to get food, nutrition, housing?
If you look at this chart most countries including china, Kora , the USA don’t have that many daily new deaths. As i posted above 68 total deaths in the USA.
Germany has 11 total deaths, S Kora 75 total deaths.

4000 Americans were dying because of the flu every week a few years ago.
On February 10, 2018, Fortune reported that influenza in the United States was killing up to 4,000 Americans a week,

There only been 68 deaths in the USA reported for the corona virus.

The only country that seems like it has a lot of daily deaths is Italy but that seems like an anomaly and there are many elderly people there .
The world has close to 7.8 billion people. The flu is killing much more.
Yep. We are vaporizing the economy. How long can it last with such a low level of activity? One week, two weeks, a month? We’re going to find out....
“How does our political system work for our democracy without these caucuses?”
It worked out in Iowa.

Right now it is. The corona virus will kill much more in the same amount of time if it infects the same number of people...which it is well on it's way to doing. But the real danger is that it will sicken many people critically in a very short amount of time which will overwhelm our medical system if nothing is done.
“Yep. We are vaporizing the economy. How long can it last with such a low level of activity? One week, two weeks, a month? Were going to find out....”
I agree. They are vaporizing the U.S. economy. I’d say a month more of this extremely low level of economic activity and it’s done . If you don’t have 9 months worth of savings for living expenses what do you do?
Why does public transportation get a pass? End the government money pits. It’s now cheaper to subsidize Uber and Lyft rides instead.
Prez Trump is thinking we can get through two months and then bounce back.
I’m tired. Who is locknerd?
I am so glad to see people on FR waking up to him.
When he attacked people who didn’t believe in “climate change” as lunatics, I left.
I did happen to turn in to him today briefly, and he went on several screeds while I was doing some sewing away from computer controls. My son was getting very upset: why do you listen to him.
He is nothing but a nanny-state big government fool. I am sorry, but it is not the job of the federal government to tell me how to live to be safe. The federal government says it is illegal to kill; people still kill. The federal government says we have to pay our taxes; people still don’t pay their taxes. So why do Americans need representatives of the federal government to use the exact phrase: social distancing.
It is the job of the federal government to get out of my way and let me live my life. And in this case, it seems that Trump has torn down massive barriers in government regulation that will allow the US to respond to this situation.
My big hope is after this all dies down, we do not put these barriers back in place.
Steve Lookner. Look up Agenda Free TV on youtube. He is constantly scanning twitter and news sources for covid news live on youtube. He also tweets about the stuff he finds.
The 50 person limit effectively shuts down congress, and all state legislatures.
Lookner on “Agenda Free TV” on YT.
You’re right.
I only started watching him a few weeks ago from links given. Have realized he is nothing but “clickbait” and a leftist “drama queen”.
Wasn’t he on a Conservative site? Probably got the boot.
