Guidance as of 3/15/2020
Large events and mass gatherings can contribute to the spread of COVID-19 in the United States via travelers who attend these events and introduce the virus to new communities. Examples of large events and mass gatherings include conferences, festivals, parades, concerts, sporting events, weddings, and other types of assemblies. These events can be planned not only by organizations and communities but also by individuals.
Therefore, CDC, in accordance with its guidance for large events and mass gatherings, recommends that for the next 8 weeks, organizers (whether groups or individuals) cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States.
Events of any size should only be continued if they can be carried out with adherence to guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations, hand hygiene, and social distancing. When feasible, organizers could modify events to be virtual.
This recommendation does not apply to the day to day operation of organizations such as schools, institutes of higher learning, or businesses. This recommendation is made in an attempt to reduce introduction of the virus into new communities and to slow the spread of infection in communities already affected by the virus. This recommendation is not intended to supersede the advice of local public health officials.
Coming soon to your town...
For next 2 months....
I’m currently at a small gathering of about 40 or so people at a neighborhood establishment. But don’t worry, we’re all self medicating with ethyl alcohol based disinfectant.

Hmmm.
And just which political party is it that wants everyone crammed into urban areas and forced into using mass public transit?
Yeah agenda free my butt... :0)
I SMELL A RAT!!!!!!!
This WHOLE situation is WRONG!!
Yep! I’m off him, now. He can KMA.
I can see events like my legislative district caucus being cancelled. How does our political system work for our democracy without these caucuses?
Lol
Something does seem contrived.
I’m basically not going anywhere except work, the grocery store, the drug store and the running store (for shoes, etc), and Wal-Mart and a modest amount of other places on an as-needs basis. Another exception would be a family member, vulnerable or otherwise, who absolutely needs my help.
No party is worth this crap.
Where are the tests? And numbers?
Good luck with that now. I personally recommend that ANY commuter with a private vehicle in running order USE THAT VEHICLE instead of taking a bus or a train. (In NYC, telework is a better alternative, of course.)
Youll see. When the economic data comes out for March it will likely show a recession. There will be a pivot by the media from Coronavirus to Trumps Recession. It will be as if the Coronavirus never happened.
In a regular flu year thousands of Americans died per week.
On February 10, 2018, Fortune reported that influenza in the United States was killing up to 4,000 Americans a week,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017%E2%80%9318_United_States_flu_season
There only been 68 deaths in the USA reported for the corona virus.

The news media is getting a lot of businesses and individuals to not do activities etc. This will shut down the economy.
Has anybody realized that will cause an economic depression? And now many people will die because of an economic depression including children?
So why are we all allowing the news media to shut down the economy?
I’ve never seen anything like this i mean the media controlling people getting them to lock themselves in their house to kill the economy.
” and Wal-Mart “

Think again, probably more than 50 people there at a time. :-0
Stop watching the news. They certainly are NOT cheerleaders but this exact same thing is happening in every country all over the world. It's a real thing. President Trump is saying the exact same thing. It's not media driven.
