Tom Hanks thanked his carers at the Gold Coast University Hospital on Sunday, where he and wife Rita Wilson are being treated for coronavirus.

But the 63-year-old actor's Twitter post grabbed the attention of fans for all the wrong reasons - namely the very thick spread of Vegemite Tom applied to his toast.

In the photo accompanying his tribute, the Forrest Gump actor showcased his breakfast, featuring a tube of Vegemite, with a kangaroo toy nearby.

I'm calling shenanigans. I have had that stuff. No way Hanks was eating that..it was for show. "It's like vegetables that taste like termites" https://youtu.be/igeUz4cjB5w

Vegemite is rich in Vitamin B, excellent to help recover from any virus.

Anybody who eats Vegemite or Marmite knows that the secret is to spread it thin. We always have a jar of Marmite in the cupboard for my British-born wife. I don’t like it myself but I didn’t grow up with it like she did.

“his carers”

“Carers” is a term that should be nipped swiftly in the bud, post haste.

Thats why I am calling shenanigans.
If Australians cant handle it loaded up like that no way does Tom eat like that. Probably threw it away after the first bite.

The kids eating are funny. It’s about what my reaction was like

I am sure there are foods that we like that Australians cant get into

Just like I can’t get into the the English style breakfast with beans and tomatoes.

That stuff looks and tastes like
something that came out of south
end of a north bound kangaroo.
Tried it on a bet. I lost.

I tried it in NZ. Came in those single serving jelly containers. Made by Kraft.

It’s okay. I’d use Vegemite over Nutella.

FWIW, a couple of years ago, the Australian government was considering limiting the sales of Vegemite.

Apparently, it can be used to make moonshine.

You are RIGHT. It SHOULD be "Xi carers." Everybody should now that by now.
